The Visitor

By: Mary Beth Magee

You visit for a moment,

Accept a breath of hospitality,

Then dash away again.

You share your company briefly.

But in that time, oh,

The magic you bring.

From tiny eggs to instars

To gloriously patterned wing.

I watched you hatch and crawl,

Grow, shed and wriggle.

You change your dress. Your

New look makes me giggle.

You give me joy and delight

With your aerial ballet.

My royal friend, magician,

Harlequin at play,

Dear monarch, share your gift

Of grand, exuberant joy

With all. Give us eyes to

See, and feelings to employ.

You set an example

Of living in the moment.

Let us live so our days

Are likewise spent.

Dash on, my friend,

Your destiny calls.

Send your children my way

When the milkweed grows tall.

Spring Comes

By: Candlewitch

Fields of springy clover

beneath my barefoot toes,

dance-happy feet kick up

a delight everyone knows!

Green, green all around,

a heart full of joys untold

rolling over and over in

nature's paradise hold!

In gardens of my growing hopes

tulips, buttercups and crocus

flourish healthily blossoming,

as Spring comes into focus.

Only Time Will Tell

Two hearts that beat separate when apart.
Both broken
Confused
Scarred and Scared.
Two souls searching for answers
Each making choices
Looking for answers
Unsure of their future
Still caring for the other
Denying the pull
Where will their paths lead?
Can this friendship survive?
Are they growing apart?
Are they changing for the better?
Will two hearts be joined?
Will families be blended?
Will the two separate hearts become one?
Only Time Will Tell What the Future Holds

SUXXULENT

she exhibits
the toss away inhibitions
and the wolves at rest
sated come to prowl
the lights
the candy
the tasty
the cigarettes
the paid out bouncer
watches
we are not his threats
no point to make
top notch clothes
leathers phones
we have layered lives
beneath the sky full of
myriad lights
our inbox of mail
the dull and ordinary

SCATTER MY ASHES

It's been a long and tiring day
though I will not complain
of watching nature's slow paced way
while nursing old knees' pain.

Before the day began to break
I slowly worked through tall dark pines
in dry air chill enough to ache
while avoiding tripping briers and vines.

Then I settled at a favorite stand
on a bluff beneath a large birch tree
overlooking wide riparian land.
I'm alone as anyone can be.

Stars to Sea

In the silence of the night.
In the tunnels of perception.
I find memoirs sinking,
Rendering fleets
Towards an unknown abyss.

Within the maelstrom of time
The claim is gone.
The feelings undone.

Each character
Shaped and shaded,
Bleeds despair.
Hues of gray and 'stay'
Wake the dead.

With stars to sea,
ships entombed,
I'll no longer suffocate.

Along an untraceable path
I weave the way.

Fragments alone remain
Upon waves,
Of lives once lived.

Celluloid Reflexions

Celluloid Reflexions

My memories play scenes
in sixteen millimeter flashes
of sepia, colors faded by Time,
and soulless shadows lost
in the years I no longer recognize.
a wonder to see a lifetime fade away
in celluloid in front of your eyes.

COLD PLACES

COLD PLACES

This is a cold place
a cold and forbidding place
where words go to die
and those that survive
rarely are heard again
languishing in brief ecstasy
of a sedated after glow
hoping to rise once more
to the glory of validation
but the words begin to die
waiting in the limbo of
“the Undiscovered”
or, to save face
the shame of mediocrity
is thrown into an unmarked
grave named the “Unpublished”

Poets gathering,
voices deciphered in words,
friendship blooms anew
the hearts share a common bosnd
beween mentors and students.

Poets sing a song
mostly to themselves they sing
neopoet sings
chorus of poets gather
beautiful verses they write.

Feet touched the earth
my mind touches the whole world
thinking a new way
take time for your words to form
let us touch the new world now.

Born To Live

You are born to live
not just exist
to dwell in pure grief,
devoid of peace.

Breathe
the fresh clean air,
the hopes and dreams.
You know they're there,

Reclaim your joy
when laughter is muted.
Seek you knowledge
to be free as a bird.

Feel your sorrow
but never drown in it.
there's still tomorrow,
so gather your wits.

Living is not
the absence of sadness
it is to move on
beyond the bitterness.

FIVEWINNZ

"fidati del tuo cuore seil mares incendia e vivi l amore"

vegas soundtracks
jangle happily
landscapes of desert
and hot weather
coyotoe haunts
and widths
as dry as a seas bottom

my heart is tattered
in the shade of an empty
house

The sleeping cat

As the cat lays peacefully sleeping in
the sun its so relaxed and contented that
it curls up in a ball and rests its head
on its outstretch front paws and its tail
peacefully laying at its side. As the sun slowly
shines down on it and makes it feel warm
and safe.
