MISS CHERISHED

The wind sizzles
the decorator trees
reach past the second
floor windows
There are stars
There will be a moon
its light is on the wall
on the mural hanging
by framing wire

A white fan hisses
its voice..already its
putting me too sleep
but each intrusive puff
of wind of the west
knocks the closed
blinds against the
frame of Her window
drawing me up from
the well of reverie

Tears

What is a tear but proof that the soul cries.
Today I felt sorrow for the less fortunate,
Driven to the brink of existence and smothered with lies.
Tormented by the reality of life’s inequities and berated
to the lowest level of living and existence.
Does a tear wash away the hurt and pain or
Salvage a wounded soul and lift a sad heart?
Tears are man’s escape from the internal suffering that
Is too hard to bear and can only be relieved with a gift,
like rain on a hot summer’s days cooling the parched earth.

Zealous or jealous

Jealousy is limited to smaller minds
those who can't see beyond their nose
the ocean is vast
it encompasses the whole earth
and
in winter keeps all cold
and preserved as in an iceberg

why should you even imagine
the ocean can be jealous
you must only be
the tip of the iceberg
lonely bee
have you ever imagined
what it’s like to be a vast ocean
of empathy like me....

Caregiver Compassion:

Just a caring smile
Utilized once in a while
Goes the extra mile

Prospero's Island.

In a room, a swirling
twisted staircase loom
of strange stuffed beasts
suspended from the ceiling,

piles of washed up, skewered books
strewn, stacked, unread, thumbed
loved, left.

In the heart of the staircase, illuminated
butterflies glow in a Lepidopterists dream
Tigers stare in and out, of dimming lights
timer strips of feline still life

beasts and fowl stuffed behind glass
eyeing us, soul lost, looking out;
the curious reflected in the gleam
of glass eye

Ideal Insight:

An Aspiration
A cause of Perspiration
And Inspiration

Thank God for the Shitty Things

Thank God for the shitty things,
the little coincidences,
and the mysteries
I don't understand
and at times
can't accept.

Thank God for the string
that holds our lives together,
for all the fuck ups and foibles,
for the haters and the detractors.

No, this isn't about overcoming anything;
it's simply a day to sit
in rapt amazement.

Thank God,
thank God
we are not in control,
though most of the time
I arrogantly think we are.

Sisters

By candle’s light that broad, fresh smile
put rose in cheeks and light in eyes.
The postman’s missive so worthwhile,
the day could hold no greater prize.

She’s half way through the second line,
at once the sound of laughter rings,
for ink the colour of dark wine
such satisfaction brings.

Oh when a sister’s far away
those conjoined hearts still beat,
while storge itself holds sway,
each written word’s a treat.

Aurora Aura:

A new Dawn assures
Life's roller coaster inures
Our Future endures
