Welcome home

We're excited to re-launch Neopoet.com.

Welcome back!

We're slowly inviting members back -- about ten to start (just to make sure everything works).

We'll add another 25 tomorrow, and keep going till we hit our first 100.

A few things to keep in mind

Please don't flood us with new submissions! Please start by posting a single piece you really want to get critiqued. We'll build up our library of poetry another time.

This site is an alpha version. A few things are broken, while there are some bugs that haven't yet been discovered. Please help out! If you catch anything, let us know. And let us know if you have any suggestions!

How is Neopoet different?

We're now more workshop focused.

We've stripped away all non-core features (not entirely by choice -- we suddenly accelerated our previous plans to upgrade our site).

The old concept of the stream is gone. All poems are now be submitted into a "workshop". A workshop is a session led by a workshop leader (more on how to become a workshop leader).

A workshop typically has a particular subject, time commitment, and structure. For example, an experienced member might lead a one month workshop on haiku, and ask each contributor to write five poems during that period. The advantage of a workshop is that you are (almost) guaranteed a certain level of feedback on your poetry. In other words, you'll get about as much as you give.

You might notice we don't have any workshops yet. To ease the transition, we've created a general workshop called (you guessed it) the "stream". The "stream" does not have any special requirements, however we ask that you try to submit only one poem a day, and that you try to write at least one detailed critique for each critique you receive.

What's next? A whole bunch of features to help you find and get matched up with workshops. And we'll bring back the old features one by one, such as the chat room, friends lists, profile themes, and so on.

Welcome!

I am very eager to welcome all the neopoets back. Although we are in a minimum form right now, I am looking forward to the return of our great poets and the community. If there is anything I can do, feel free to contact me.

Humbled an honored to be invited back and feeling a new exhilaration with a stripped down site that gets down to why I joined in the early days.

I am so glad that the site is going to be back soon. I am still having trouble in the realm of passwords. I will be back as soon as the site will accept my original information, and I can change my password. I really don't know why it asked me to change it since the original worked just fine. Oh well, computers . . .

My dear all, I don't remember a day when I didn't check whether or not Neopoet was back successfully. One day I was online and being disappointed I was going to check some other site to post my poems when all of a sudden Mona Rose (Libyan) popped in my Yahoo ID and informed me of Neopoet that it was back. I was stonished at this and instantly checked it im my mail box whether or not I have received any mail from Andrew ( a great human being), but there was nothing that day. But now today I see that lovely Neopoet again and all the friends whom I missed very much during this technical breakdown.

I just wanted to publicly thank you guys for your dedication to the members
and the site, it's great to be home!

i am back and i hate it ! all my work is gone. the new look is sterile and uninviting.
not good.

Yes, it is true that my work is gone, but at least I feel I am home, and what better can I feel, moreover I can see how much pain they (Andrew and Paul) have endured in retreating and relaunching this site.
I am grateful.
Ayaz

We are so used to the old neo we just got to get used to the new one!! A big thank you to all who were involved in getting the site back up and running. I also lost alot of my past few months of poems and we were warned earlier on to save them.

I for one always did just that and I am happy for the ones I do have saved. I had gone into all my poems just before Neo crashed and saved them to members only and now regret doing so. Still it is my own fault for not saving the summer poems and I can only hope somehow they can be find my poems someday. I tried the cache on google but nothing came up but blogs. If anyone else posted their work to members only and found a way to retrieve their work please by all means let me know.

Talk to you all soon and nice to see some familiar names and faces here:)

Mona

Missed you so much . On holiday in Sri Lanka and enjoying the spirituality

I am short of words to express how good it feels to be back on Neopoet...

it feels like being home again ..

Hello to everyone and hats off to the likes of Andrew, Paul, Rett and their team for their ceaseless efforts to make this possible..

raj (sublime_ocean)

first a big thanks to all involved in the task of launching. I have missed ALL ya'll and look forward to continuing our growth as poets and friends. I promise to not win any more contests and thus shock site into crashing ha! ha! ..........scribbler

Sorry to hear you all crashed, I was looking for what seemed to be weeks and weeks for ya all. I'll need to change all my links in my posts and blogs once your totally up and running again. I've gone to a couple of other poetry sites, but I still like this one the best. Don't rush back into it all at once take what was great and add some new features too. I like the blog roll type of set up rather then the frozen page styles it take some getting use too, but allows you more freedoms. I would like to see the site Partitioned into several select little sites the Work shop, the comment section, the social section, like the chat room was, and the forum. I was beginning to enjoy that portion I would like to see the ability to add a frame, a background and pictures, to our writes. With the Poem being a separate entity of its own page and ad free where only it can be seen. I would Like the ability to Share Adds and an Affiliate profits such as Amazon or some other with a 50/ 50 split to the poet and to the site, as in Hubepages or wikinut or triond these sites have the techno stuff, but don't have the writers and poets it needs to make stuff truly happen. I have said before if your gonna dream, dream big every thing is new for you and us right now. With the people we have here at Neo we still could give these other sites a run for their money or their window space on the web. Neo has dedicated and knowledgeable writers who could also promote and teach and share and eventually publish collections for individuals by partnering with a true hard copy publisher later down the line. I am just know starting to earn some small income with my other INTERNET publishers who will most likely end up making many more times, more then me, from my works. I would rather share and produce for a trusted family then strangers, but I'll do what it takes to earn because that relates to being read and seen I am about to get over 50,000 page views on one of these sites and I have not been working it as I should because of my health and some unexpected Family matters. But here is a chance to turn some thing Good into some thing Great and profitable which to some may sound bad, but when done by people with heart it is seldom bad. Best wishes to those Founders and Owners of Neo and to the Family they have strung together. Donnie/ Sinbad the Sailor Man

how can any one
let you a poet be,
you are an epic writer ,

but limit your poetry

Once again Neo is running. YEAH!! good to see some friends again. :)

Its been awhile, and really felt like a limb was missing without this excellent service and the wonderful people gathered herein. Great to be back. And hope all are well, John

Yenti,

I come to you out of the blue. Holding both hands full. In my right hand a weapon in my left a small bag of flour. I say only this as the choice is yours to place. Take the weapon and you will conquer the world. Many will cry and yes masses will die yet you will live forever. Or choose the bag of flour as it will grow and many will live and love the day of life.

Picturing you on the morning of the next day. Standing with only a pack on with a small bag of flour in its width. In my mind I can see you trying to explain. I need to go and I love you. Give my children and family a kiss. As to you please forgive me yet I need to be me. Don't worry as I choose the weapon and I will be just to your back to help in any way I can.

Just me thinking and well life is just what you make of it. I hope you understand.

Nicely put, Ian.

To my friends and those with a dream.

Having a little trouble finding my way back to Neo. The @ mail said it was easy. I did what the dirrections listed as to change my password yet I find it stupid to ask have you forgotten your password only to find when I try to change it I'm prompted that I must first type my old password to replace it.

I hope that a poet has the time to send me a @ mail and walk me through this. If not well it was nice beeing a part of a place I love. I can be reached at (REMOVED)

I offer a flower I found,
drifting from above to the ground.

How long have you waited for me,
Hiding from my sight in a tree.

Understanding the reason you try,
digging a hole I cry.

The picture I keep of you,
is just that simple and true.
