A new look

We heard you loud and clear: the sidebar on the left is much too wide.

Rather than just shrink the sidebar, we'd like to try something a little more radical. We understand screen space is at a premium -- why not use it all for poetry? We've taken the left sidebar away completely (at least for now). In it's place is the new "tools" menu up top. You'll see that all menus are now dynamic -- you can hover your mouse over them and they will drop down.

On the right, we have a "context" pane that shows information relevant to what you are looking at. When you are looking at a poem, you'll see information about an author. When you are looking at a workshop, you'll see a listing of poems submitted to that workshop... and so on. (Just added -- when you are viewing a poem, you'll see a list of other works that author has posted on Neopoet). Please let us know if you have any suggestions along these lines!

While you are experimenting with the tools menu, take a look at the "track all" and "your works" pages. We think they will be very helpful. In the near future we'll also add a page that has similar functionality to the old "your missed updates" display.

We plan on changing things around until we find the formula that's right for everyone. Please let us know what you think.

I like the new look. I thing the Track all, and Your works is wonderful.

I like it. If the top menu can be anchored and all the relevant menus placed on the top in drop down form, it would greatly enhance navigation.

Thanks for listening!

I love how when you click on someone's poem, you can see what other work they have! That is awesome!

I think it will be a very very helpful tool.

Actually, that was entirely Paul's idea.

I just refined it a bit -- I took out the creation date and all that, because that isn't so important given the context, and I made it so the list excludes the actual poem you are viewing (and the block itself disappears if the person only has one poem posted).

Amazing and pleasing!

I agree with that also as it is hard to find the response time is lagging and I know you all are working on it. I am still waiting to retrieve my poems here so please keep me up to date on that.
Thank you
Magics

I think this is growing in to being much more user friendly than I had a small fear of. Thank goodness, and thanks to you, Andrew and Paul for working so hard at making and keeping Neo the best it can be.

I am having trouble with having the top navigation bar. First isn't it a little space consuming? Then maybe its just my computer but trying to use the drop down menu with out the menu switching to the menu below is difficult. Almost impossible for me. And our color options, not what I was hoping for. is it just me?? Sorry.

Kudos for the continuing enhancements, however, I miss the immediate access to the Stream, which imo, should be an immediate *flow* on a *Poetry* venue.

After getting used to it the new form has many advantages. The only thing is when is a poem going to stop being listed as " new " ? I am anxious to see how the site will work on parallel poetry and am looking forward to being able to vary the indentation on the beginning of each line. I know this will all take time and am very appreciative of all the hard work ya'll have done to date. Thanks........scribbler

I must be in the minority - I miss the sidebar. I also miss having the friends list of people. I know that things are still developing, so I'm not trying to say too much about it until I see how it evolves.

Forgive me....the *look* of the site is half as important as the poets on the site.

Have invitations been extended to all former poets, including the ones who were banned or moderated when the site went down.... a true *slate wiped clean*, since in the truest sense, the site is brand spanking new.
Imo, until then the former splendor is not yet arrived at. The controversy, the call to grow as its result, has not yet
realized here, now. And the site is a shadow of its former self.

Or let me ask for the truth.....are there perhaps folks who don't want to get attached just in case the site crashes again.?

Just some questions.... please don't be angry for me asking them.

To you and me, it may not matter Kaliashana. However, I've seen it ruin another poetry website completely, and it's very sad to see happen. The colors, layout, and how user friendly the site is has a subtle subconscious impact on some of the people on a site.

I like the color and text controls that you have provided for the site.

As it comes along and is different I want to thank the folks that are behind the scenes making this new neopoet better and wiser. It is to be appreciated much and I thank you for all you have done Andrew and the others.
I also believe that all voices need to be heard on any thing that matters to the community and yes forgiveness is one of them. I am sure in regards to Anna's request or question that all who used to be in here should be given another chance at presenting their work here less the negativity that was abound here before.
As I have grown and learned so has many others, and if truly they want to present their works here again, minus the back biting then they should receive the forgiveness from the community also. In doing so we may all prosper in the new year with new goals and inspirations as writers. That is not a hard thing to do and that is to forgive and let live.

Happy New Year Neopoet's all over the world

It's working fine with IE. My best guess is something is not compatible with the firefox platfrom.

Neopoet should work well with a recent version of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

I find no problems with it.

Thanks Andrew.... don't know what caused it but after a week or so of trying to work around that it is now fixed!
