Sleeping alone is its own loneliness. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and intimacy breeds contempt", but there is that middle place where both are missed.

"When a pickpocket meets a holy man all he sees are his pockets."

it always a difficult task to write a piece of poetry that tells it all in so few words...you've cracked it with this one.

It has a veneer of elegance to it, although the sadness runs through it perfectly.
