Siren Song

I stare into the rays,
A face.
No more than a rumor in the mind
A face that peeks through the sun,
as it's strewn across the leaves
Long since it was forgotten.
Now a ghost, in a mind that is lost.

I can only reminisce
at having had the memory
My mind grasps at the whispered thought,
mere apparitions in my hand.
Where are they?
Where are they?!
Lost.

The song still plays...

It soothes the tempered mind
A lament too beautiful to ignore
Too beautiful to hinder with memories of the past
I watch them fade, consumed in the serenity

I listen.
The ghosts multiply
So familiar, yet vacant
So many, faceless.
Yet familiar eyes stare back at me.

A face hidden in the light.
I stare through the brilliance
I stare into the rays.

Last few words:
Although the idea of a finite set of memories exists, I speak to an unending circle, a memory that only exists as a memory that was had. This is what lead me to the loop. Even though that's as far as I got, I can't seem to fin any way of closing that pleases me beyond the infinite loop.

oft times I am chastised for not editing , correcting or suggesting changes. To my mind their are works that need nothing added , subtracted or changed this is one of them.

Let your mercy spill on all these burning hearts in hell(Leonard Cohen)

That could be why I can't come up with anything of the sort.

Loved the feelings rolling in this one I can only think of one end to this as it triggers my memory in many ways setting,
My memory ablaze.
Though the memories will always be there those three words keeps the whole thing alive, Yours Ian.T

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

I agree with what those words would do. I think I can play around with that idea in the next piece.

It's the shadow of the memories that should persist through vs. the memories themselves. The failing duality of what persists and what has faded in the mind.
