Though I'm a woman

I don't understand my own sex,
sometimes.

In India and China, girl babies
do not hold their value like rupees
and yen. Hardly more
in other places, behind burqas
and desks and military posts
and kitchens with three children
clinging and a husband emotionally
absent.

If we don't value each other
in the truth of our lives, suppression
makes another face ugly, no matter
how perfect the make up and pearls.
How brilliant-coloured the sari, how drab
her working clothes. How torn the fishnet
stockings of the neighborhood whore.

This is a good poem.
Our opposite sex have to pay for being able to have children, and those male images that have still to this day made it so, then there is still a trend that makes male celebrities the gods of humans.
There what we have made we have to pay for, muscle bound men and slim women hanging on their arms, film stars racing drivers you name it we have made it so, we have even ripped the whores tights in our over bearing insanity.
Now the quiet will hear the nerd tapping out his keys making the foundation of all life and many dedicated people that are not over paid endeavour to make this life for all a good one:- extract from Sparrows memories chapter 10 verses 1 to 8 lol.
You take great care Anna it may change but I have no hope for that, Yours Ian.T. xx

So find more reasons to believe in others..

We share but one life on this one planet

Another nice one. What can I say, this kind of suppression exist because of the lack of knowledge and the brainwashed mentality of the people themselves. The fact is, even the strongest man won't be here if a woman don't give birth to him. My religion teaches the devotees to respect a mother greater than a father due to the fact that she carries her child in her womb for nine months with all the difficulty and face great pain when she is giving birth. No muslim is a muslim if he does not respect his mother.Unfortunately that teaching has been forgotten by most devotees as they began to form wrong judgements in a gender's quality. Truth to be told, in the eyes of Allah no man or woman is better than the other except for their piety and submission to His teachings.

Imo until more than half of the world...females are treated with respect and dignity, human beings will not respect Mother Nature or one another, regardless of the sameness or differences. Thank you for resurrecting this poem. Forgot all about it.
