Dead Battery (Her First Kill)

Middle of the night
car abandoned
on the side of the road.
No cell phone signal
for miles around.

This is just great,
he muttered,
beginning to walk.
The perfect end
to a hellish day.

Looking around
the road was empty,
not a soul to be found.
Suddenly he got the feeling
he wasn't alone.

Twisted giggles
coming from leafless trees
caused him to stop in his tracks.
Where the hell was he?
How did he get on this path?

Poor son of a bitch
never saw it coming.
Something hit him from behind,
sent him sprawling
beneath a faintly moonlit sky.

Let's play Hide and Seek
a velvetty voice echoed
through the branches.
You have until the count of ten,
save yourself
if you think you can

Scrambling to his feet
blood pouring from the scalp.
Vision blurred but not so bad
that he couldn't see the house.

Behind him, he could hear the counting
time was running out.
Nine, ten, I'm going to find you
yes i am.

Up the front steps, nearly falling
the door was convieniently open.
Closed it behind him
with a slam.

Gagging on the odor
of what he was to discover.
Pulling himself together
trying to form a plan.

Come out come out
wherever you are,
he heard the voice shout.
Taking a deep breath
he felt safe
he had locked the demon out.

His eyes darted toward the kitchen
he could see a door.
Leading downstairs
surely it couldn't find him there.
Found a light ,
turning it on,
shrieking with fear.

There she sat
upon the dead man's lap
in nothing but lingerie and heels.
She grinned at him
as he nearly fainted.
Told you I would find you
did I not?

He opened his mouth to speak
but was silenced by her whip.
Don't speak unless spoken to
that's my biggest rule
see, Daddy,
she talked to the body,
I knew he could never be like you.

Crumpled on the floor
afraid to move
he watched her circle him
heels pounding on the floor.

Now what to do
I haven't decided yet
it has been forever
since Daddy let me have a pet.

She bound his wrists with wire
cutting into the flesh,
His feet were tied with electrical tape,
a rope placed around his neck

For a moment he watched her
thinking she was quite pretty.
despite her pale complexion
and watery eyes.
Maybe if this was it
he would get lucky.

Like what you see,
she hissed in his face,
it's not for sale.
Pointing to her father's body
she growled.
All I have belongs to him.

He figured this was it
no sense in biting his tongue.
Are you kidding,
He sputtered.
What are you on?
Now she had a gun

This is too easy,
she spat,
dropping it by his hand
I'd rather you suffer
and then suffer again.

She cut his skin
a little at a time.
Tiny, bloody marks
enough to make him
lose his mind.

Stitched his mouth
with needle and thread
to stifle the shouts
She had enough.

The final blow
made such a mess.
Sliding in the aftermath
as he laid open
on the basement floor.

Nevermore rocked back and forth
giggling and smiling.
Letting his fluids
seep through her hands.

I brought you a friend, Daddy,
she said, never taking her eyes
off the lifeless body.
So you won't be lonley
when I'm gone.
I didn't let him touch me, Daddy
I kept my word

I am glad that you enjoyed the poem. There are several others featuring my alter ego/character, Nevermore, if you are interested. NEVERMORE, BLOODY AFFAIR, DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL, NECROPHELIA ISN'T ENOUGH all feature her. Any comments or suggestions are always welcome and taken into consideration. Happy reading!

I would not rework these. You will do as you deem appropriate, but they are the work of a specific poet and other than experimentation I see no reason to mess with them.
Go on.
Address some organized language, put some punctuation to use and (this is my pet peeve... you do what you want) get rid of those capitals. It is a very old convention and I still don't know why poets who struggle to be "modern" (no punctuation, verso libre) still cling to it.
Boggles the mind, but do what you like. You must always be the poet in charge.
It is perhaps time to consider the sonnet. Iambic pentameter with organized rhyme on ANY subject. Make sure you understand that. Mr. Petrarch did not write love sonnets only. Any subject is viable. Just as dark as you like.
The restrictions in form will challenge you, but it will create new synapses we can later work with.

Examples of a sonnet so I can see what is expected. I have been.changing grammar and punctuation as you suggested. I find myself thinking of it whenever I write now. I will be reviewing all my works when I can and doing the same! :-)

I did revisions on this one and made a few small changes, nothing severe enough to alter the poem, just a few things I thought might sound better. You can correct me if I am wrong.

When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has glean'd my teeming brain,
Before high pil`d books, in charact'ry,
Hold like rich garners the full-ripen'd grain;
When I behold, upon the night's starr'd face, 5
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And feel that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour!
That I shall never look upon thee more, 10
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love;—then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think,
Till Love and Fame to nothingness do sink.

John Keats. Perhaps my favorite poem of all time.
