Political Pandering (first new one in a while)

Political Pandering

Spare a dollar, spare a dime
Come sit down and waste your time
Listen to the mastery
Of lying faces, politically

We'll do this, we'll do that
Come on up and fill the hat
We'll say one thing and do another
Hopes and dreams we're bound to smother

Spare a dollar, spare a twenty
Put it in, we'll spend plenty
We don't bother to even try
Pay no attention to our lie.

To the polls, cast your vote
Don't look at records, don't make a note
Just listen to the lies we spew
Then believe in something new

Spare a dollar, spare a dime
Come on down and waste your time
Forget the problems that you face
Help me win this sordid race

Spare an inch, we'll take a mile
Mezmorize you with our style
Looking oh so debonaire
And leave you grasping empty air

Do you remember when we voted based on a person's character as opposed to celebrity? Good rant on the disconnect between politicians and the real people. Only suggestion is you might try "we don't bother to even try"..might be a bit smoother. Now we can await fall of 2014 and see if the masses have learned anything........stan

Yes, I remember it very well. Too bad it no longer applies. I can only hope people are finally wising up. Thanks for the suggestion. Trying it.

A good quiet rant, Brittle light has written a piece called "Despicable"
my answer is similar to that write.
It matters not that we vote in this or that at the moment they will banquet whilst our young lads Die and fight to keep their table filled, while the printers will turn out the coupons for some of our troops families so that they can eat..
It is the same everywhere Rett, I feel that I have lived in the right age as I fear the next one for my children if those damn politicians carry on as they have for too many years instead of sorting out basics.
There is no need for world Hunger or homelessness, or just being poor, but it is as always, maintained to keep the masses in a place where they cannot do anything other than say Baa.
Blasted by TV and TV games, undereducated, or their mind set formed to accept that they belong in a certain class..
What a load of crap there is enough for all, we in the UK are supposed to be the 6th richest country in this world, and we send unusable scraps to the poor in the food banks, and think that we are doing the poor a favour..
That will do, another good write from your grumps catalogue.
Yours Ian.T

I have been fighting the crookedness since I was in my 20's. Doing my homework, taking notes on their records, etc. I seem to be fighting a losing battle, but I fight on.

If I didn't know you were writing about things almost diametrically opposite to what I have found to be closer to the truth, I would agree with this poem.
I certainly agree with the spirit of it.
Only difference, a huge one, is that I see the enemy as corporations, trying to re-enact slavery, governments as the bought out puppets of corporations, and socialism as the sensible product of human co-operation to survive and develop on a finite planet.
Remember, capitalism depends on continuing growth, this is a finite planet, and until we develop faster than light speed spaceships, we need to keep this planet alive, despite the oil and chemical corporations.
Everyone you call liars, like scientists who agree with evolution, the big bang theory and human caused climate change, have far less money than oil and chemicals.

Follow the money to follow the sociopathic power-mongers.

Jess

Although I disagree in part, not everything, we do have some common ground. The biggest difference is socialism because it stifles the human race. Multinationals are part of the problem and the so called limited funds of the government sycophant scientists are backed by the unlimited funds of the governments and the multinationals. The government is not controlled by them, the governments are in collusion with them. A partnership.

Where you see all corporations as evil, I see the ones in partnership with the government as evil. Where you see oil as something to hate, I see it as necessaray. Where you see oil as evil profit mongerers, I see it as something the government makes a huge profit on. Who is making the most, Jess, the oil companies at 3-8 cents per gallon refined or the government that is making 40 to 50 cents per gallon in taxes?

I am just sick of the low information voters who refuse to do research and listen to the blandishments of the politicians and vote for the free stuff that others work hard to get. The man who works for a living is being overwhelmed by the man who votes for a living.

Did you ever give thought to national parks and the signs that say "Do not feed the animals. You will make them dependent on man". When you give to people in perpetuity like is happening, then you create dependence. We have generations now existing on government largess. What has supposed to help has created a dubset of people than do not realize their potential because they have been programmed that the government will take cvare of them.

Anyway, neiother here nor there. I continue to fight for what I believe is right, helping those who truly need help, doing my homework on the candidates and voting for those whose character shows integrity and refusing to listen to their promises instead of looking at their records.

Thanks for the comments.

It's Carrie, under a different name. I tend not to get involved in politics but this I agree with you on. Shameful how the government spends our money all while lying to our faces. So many things I dont understand about government and how they continue to get away with what they do. Again, I am not a political expert or person by any means. Good to see you again :)

Keep Writing,
Carrie

Good to hear you again. Thanks for your input. I understand, my wife isn't very political either. As for this, it is an general, non-party specific poem. Just frustrated with all of them inside the beltway. It is perpetual campaign and all about increasing their power instead of representing the people.
