a rainbow arching high above
the fresh smell of new cut grass
a flight of wild geese as they pass
first peanut butter from a jar
thunder rumbling from afar
fresh potato chips are great
on unposted unlocked pasture gate
the chorus from an evening fen
watching squirrels exit their den
fishing in the warmth of spring
hearing dove and whippoorwills both sing
the harmony of hunting beagles
defiant screech of lonely eagles
the smell of rain on hot asphalt
finding a bounced check is Bank's fault
paying off a long term loan
sitting in the woods alone
ladies' fashions come summer time
finding that just perfect rhyme
a rare day without knee pain
a bullfrog's deep mating refrain
spying a rutting whitetail buck
riding around in my old truck
iced sweet tea after a day's heat
arguing with folks who don't eat meat
when Obama doesn't get his way
that peaceful calm at end of day
winter sun behind bare trees
first hint of cool on a late summer breeze
frost patterns on a piece of glass
an old oak tree's cool looming mass
the first snow flake of first snowfall
raisind a home's first plumb wall
black berries blooming in the spring
(as well as what the blossoms bring)
muscadines fresh from the vine
talking my way out of a traffic fine
there's much more that I could say
but this is enough for one day
