At approximately 7:30 am on May 8, 2013 in New York City (during a very heavy rainstorm), our datacenter provider, Galaxy Visions, suffered a brief power outage. Unfortunately, during this outage, their UPS battery system, which was supposed to bridge the gap between the outage and the time the generators went online, failed due to a defective battery, and some servers lost power (and obviously, ours was one of those that were affected). Our server normally operates 24x7, and some times during a reboot (which is very occasional in the lifetime of a server - typically we can go a year between reboots) there is an issue coming back online. We resolved this issue just now, around 6:00 pm today, and Neopoet is back online.

In the coming weeks, we will schedule downtime for the server so that we can ensure that the server reboots properly if we were to lose power again.
