Beyond

I thought I was beyond it
grasping I tried to hold firm
as each thread passed
through my fingers

but my art held fast
pinching my arms
numbing my fingers
itching at me

awoken from nightmares
sweat rolled from temples
a hollow reed in the dark
had begun to sing

seducing me long into night
my hands bled
and spilling my blood
I made the lines ring

in the back of beyond
I found myself bloody
weeping of the black
bleeding out poems

No you were never beyond writting poetry, perhaps there is a natural switch in the mind that just takes us away to recharge. Everybody has quite spells, (best not to worry, or try to force.) where you can't seem to start or think about anything clearly to write. But as you've shown here it returns, and gives us great poetry. Love Roscoe...

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

This is a different write from your normal, like pulling yourself out of a bog and rejoicing in the freedom.. Loved it but don't go there again lol.

when there is a feeling of emptiness

take a step in the opposite direction
see the setting sun
as twere were rising somewhere…
beyond the periphery

then your nerves shall relax,
read others poetry
and
critique will naturally come JC

of course you know it...

So lose not heart
in quietude abide,
go out for a long stride,
if horses you can't ride
then you will be back
as usual
