The Widow Solstice

I did feel the Widow Solstice
take leave her throne last night,

nay, I was right when I said "feel"
for it weren't from sound or sight;

I took leave of my own senses to check my plight.

Running past me into the desert cold
her wake echoed a haunted tune,

'twas but an overture from the score, in parts
she was more concerned with lassoing the moon;

for a lamp, to play the whole piece for a loon..

The Widow Solstice's musical prowess
didn't exist, so she'd merely pretend,

sporadically exploring her chilled harmonies
that voices in this world couldn't blend;

and lyrics with no message to send.

Chillingly stealthful, she prowls through the night
with seemingly felinish powers,

Time allows moments to continue to drag
stretching minutes that lapse into hours;

patiently watching Widow's antics from the towers.

The title became a reason to read I have returned to this piece several times to try and work pout the story.
I find the Solstice is to me a day in the year of equality.
But to be a widow did throw my thoughts.
As a siren from the days of old just didn't work for me
Lassoing the moon to have light to read,
what kind of symphony is that I hear??
A little explanation would be good, I have looked at this over the last four weeks come back to me and see if we can hear the same sounds,

...i was overwhelmed in January & February, so i blamed it on : "the widow solstice".
These 2 women I knew very well, died. 1 in january, 1 in february; & it was very, tragically sudden. I fixated on how it wasn't "fair", and then blamed : "the widow solstice" for it because of "her", propensity to irritatingly rush around in the cold, (just like so many of us); only to waste the time, because of the way winter weather can hinder.
Probably, had I NOT been so "bitter", it could've really been; something.
thanx for the read,
hope i wasn't the cause of, too much "fretting";
your friend & fellow poet;
doc. :)

I am sorry I was mixing up the Solstice with the Equinox not a good thing to do. Highs and Lows are the solstice things, and we all go through these stages at any time of the year, especially when we lose someone as you did.
We then have to go through the natural grieving cycle as all things do. A rage at anything and anyone that this should happen, then there are many other stages, one mainly of missing someone so very much that it hurts also, until our brain sorts out the loss and structures it to stop hurting.
Today would have been my sisters 85th birthday, had she carried on with life, then to us left here we light a candle for her and send out our love to her knowing that she is safe, and with all the ones she loved that have also travelled on.
I now have Mum, Dad, two Brothers, and two Sisters, that have left us here, but we know that they are but a thought away, so think of them and they will be at your side..

...and as you soo very eloquentl put; they DID appear, (right there by my side); and busied themselves by ordering for: "justice"! Debi had gone in for a routine kidney removal and was told to, "go home & take this liquid morphine, & other pain meds"; because she had 4th stage lung cancer; & it was in her brain, so she wouldn't live anyway.....and, Cheryl was murdered.
Yeah, 'tis a tough pill to swallow.
Thanx ian, for this;
doc.
