Premonition to Perdition

The shape perplexing
in the dreary twilight
all nights empty
battle
with rest

in strange awakenings
the full horror
lifts
like
strangling mist

my life's purpose
running
tripping
stumbling
away from me

"come back darling!"
shouting through
toxic twines
crossing
like eccentric
wiring through
limbs

no avail
flopping discovery
sucking air
to breathe
collapsing balloons
for lungs
bursting agony

Ophelia in pre-raphaelite
pose
painter's dream
beauty and charm

my daughter's inert
starfish
bloated and beached
in reeds
impact like a Dorian Grey
painting searched

screams to rent
Grendel's mother
awake
screams to plead
for daylight's state

Gasping
panting
sweating
crying

running to waken
the precious cargo
slumbering
sleep bliss shaken

parental
premonition to
perdition

This was the scariest nightmare I'd had in years...I attributed it down to the fact that my daughter was getting ready to leave home. All my 'fears' and the death references, I suppose, were due to the fact that our relationship was changing. Freud would have a field day!

Definately would be from the moving out my daughter left for university 12 months ago our relationships changed a lot but at the core we still love each other to bits, I have to say I had quite a few nightmares about her moving out and living on her own but it seems they were all groundless shes doing really well, works and studies I couldnt be more proud

My daughter went up to University a couple of years ago...our relationship is so much better, she's my friend now. Was a difficult adjustment period...the brain is a funny old beast isn't it? Processing all our experiences.
