Oh! dad anyones

you are
more than what you are
a star
born star
each one...

in poetry the poets
never or rarely give one
you all hearts have won
and
I still live in hope

someday some moody poet
shall come by my way,

to say
Loved

how come so long
barren you did stay

my inner feelings for your dad......

I know how one feels
when one loses...
I lost mine decades since…

it will be unfair on my part
to leave such a small tribute
so that more notice
the love of ones parents
and
the contributions they make

we must salute them

I have composed many poems on moms
this is my maiden one on a dad
some one's dad
could have been any ones...
mine or yours

For writing about our Fathers, they always seem to be eclipsed by the Mother image, then there the flowing poetry excels.
We should have a time set aside for our Dads in poetry.
Each year on his anniversary we light a candle and this Monday it would have been his 115 th birthday so there will be a candle burning for him all day, as is all our family and friends, yesterday it was for My Brother who journeyed on November 2010.
I shall take notice of this piece and Monday shall write of mine.
Thanks again, Yours Ian.T

Ian I admire you
and hope you will add

an additional candle

for your dad ,
one on my behalf

My Father 1897-1963

Father Born December 3rd 1897
Into a family of 14
Place of birth Dearham Norfolk
Ran away to join the WW1 at 17 years old
As all his Brothers were there.
Served in the Royal Artillery
Area of service Egypt and the Holy Land

Married to Violet Blanche Buckland 1929
Had 8 children four boys four girls
A farm worker until 1947
Badly gored by a bull in 1947
Seriously ill for one year but had strength to carry on.
Was a wonderful Father to us all
Journeyed to the other side 1st July 1963.

What can I say Dad, you would have been 115 years old today
You know what, while you were here with us,
You gave your children everything, with no conditions.
This is a beauty of the soul that all should strive for.
My friends tell me of you even now.
Though it is hard for some of us to see,

You leading the Bull with that 3 foot pole,
Ploughing the fields with the horses.
Talking to many friends past
Probably asking of our ways
Welcoming each of us as we journey on
We will be a family once again
I shall tell you that our love never changes
But this you know, as do I
Yours with unconditional love,
Ian
