Three Queen Welcome

A watery coronation
of sorts
today
Three 'Queens'
proud bows
sail to the
bay

Sparkling reflection
stock
their finest
regal hues
displayed
in Cunard's
Dock

Southampton's
proud dames
tread water lightly
to bask in reflected
glory
rightly due

The gleaming glamour
game played by
the seafaring
pilgrims
on their
transatlantic tale

Last few words:
We were given a (treat) recently when the 'Three Queens' of the Cunard fleet came into port.

given a teat huh sorry I laughed out loud at that one,

Another poem with great imagery you have a style all
your own I been telling you that for a long time now lol

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” — W.B. Yeats

Having said that...the language is a bit camp throughout....can't stop thinking about three 'Queens' rolling up dockside now...oh the cliches!

Naughty girl...LOL

"Buggery and Rum" Sir Winston Churchill

but then again Cunard was never part of the military flotilla
she just allowed her usage of her transatlantic babes
for troopships

and it was Lizzie who sliced the little destroyer in half
wasnt it!!
the zig when zag went astray

Keep thinking of American Pirates
of Malta..against inevitably the navy
heavily armed and manned by poor
sods sometimes plucked from the
Quays in their cups

Cunard built some nice vessels
though

"teat" cant help but to think
of the maidens they carved
in wooden ship days

Thank You

Sailors, Queens, Ships & teats....it's all life here in Southampton!

I can't help thinking of the days when bowsprits were carved with half naked maidens. In wondering why, I thought of many different reasons, but the one answer that appealed to me most, was that I believe that mankind has the inherent knowledge that the ocean and motherhood have a deep connection. Of course the more obivious thing is, given that ocean voyages were such long drawn out affairs, it might be that he just wanted to be reminded of what a beautiful woman looked like. LOL ~ Gee

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

This is really good! Yes, you do have a style of your own, and it works.

Thank you,

I'm trying very hard to develop my own style...as usual when we start out we are a little like a magpie, nicking stylistic features here & there...but I'm gaining confidence and tackling different themes.

Although you won't find me being inspired by the British weather, it's too benign...or my dog, he's adorable but thick and wouldn't make a good muse!

I have composed
FREESTYLE POETRY
as I know sweet, fa, about the finesse
you all express...

I am still a novice
in the art
but thank Neopoets
for letting me be a part
of the elite
like you all are
I still am an upstart
yes course
you may laugh.

Reading Ellie, you’re constantly assailed by the notion that she is writing down what you have always known, except that you’ve never thought of it before. This is highly unnerving; fortunately, you’re usually too busy smiling like crazy. I can think of no finer poem to have beside me while land masses implode and sea floors explose, while the world ends.
