Fables and Phantoms...

Evil, wears the faces that we put on it
The masks that we see are of our own device
Out of the darkness, in the light of the fire
we chisel and paint, bringing to life our fears

Warnings woven in tales handed down
of innocence carried away
in the absence of enlightenment
So we seek to put names and faces on it

What we cannot see frightens us
We need the lamps of understanding
Then we can invent ways of defeating evil
There must be Ying and Yang

Seeing the stars, we thought they were gods
battling for our souls
Now we are smarter and know; we are
our own worst enemy

This is for me pure prose. Therefore I suppose one can call it poetry too.

I wonder really what evil is, it isn't there unless we 'poetise'(N) there,
just as we do with love,
all the illusions we hang onto for dear life.....they are illusions all.

Ann guilty of having had many illusions!!!! :)

"The image of yourself which you see in a mirror Is dead,
but the reflection of the moon on water, lives." Kenzan.

my Queen of Norway. So glad that you stopped by. Yes, we are all guilty of having illusions. Do we delude ourselves, thinking that there is something after this life? I guess we will just have to wait and find out! Love to my Queen, ~ Sir Gee

Happy to 'hear' your voice too my dear Sir Gee,
love to you.
Time + eternity = entirety (everything, wholeness) T.S. Eliot

“Time is very slow for those who wait
Very fast for those who are scared
very long for those who lament
Very short for those who celebrate
But for those who love time is eternal”

That eternity is not grasped by man as a definite idea is true, because definite is finite, and man, being finite, cannot grasp what is in-finite. It is known only as that which is absolutely; or negatively as that to which end is denied. Sorry lost the name at the top of this discusion on the Greek word for eternity.

Translated from Basho's haiku by R.H. Blyth

The old pond;

A frog jumps in —

The sound of the water.

"Time is the moving image of eternity" Plato.

"The image of yourself which you see in a mirror Is dead,
but the reflection of the moon on water, lives." Kenzan.

I was just looking at that very Haiku by Basho this morning! I was thinking of having the participants of the next Chat on the Darkside do some Haiku for the chat. iI opted for just a verse in any form instead, but it is odd that you should quote that particular one. Maybe there is a reason for it. Fate and karma might be at work here. Thank you my Queen, for something to think about! ~ Love, Sir Gee
