Five Fingers – Charity of the Thumb

All fingers not equal
So are their functions
Like spaces we occupy
In the scheme of things
Surpluses spill at on end
Complete lack at the other
The hand that gives always
Not the same that receives
Blessed, the prayer goes
For the cheerful benefactor
In such humanity evolves
A law for the charitable
Not obligatory or forced
Without any gain in mind
For it to pass the tartlet test

The smallest finger said
Look brothers, I am hungry
Your mother is not around
The next one answered
The tall middle suggested
Let us go and steal
What happens if we are caught?
Queried the fore finger
The thumb, declared fervidly
Count me out and stepped away
Not for any selfish reasons
But to support the other four
For the hand is not complete
Without the thumb in the matrix
Of the pentagram in the palm

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

For the hand is not complete
Without the thumb in the matrix
Of the pentagram in the palm

I like this very much!
always, Cat
