i can sense your excitement about the chat event being hosted by you...i wish all those who would participate in it a great time...i would have loved to join in but the time zone difference will not work for me...

as a host of the chat show...may i suggest that you also focus on a a very disturbing issue of many of our fellow members quitting Neopoet or on the brink of quitting ...i feel all of us should try our best to persuade those who have quit to come back and those who are on the brink to stay back...and while doing so find out the root cause of all this and how to go about eliminating it or at least thwarting it...

please think about my suggestion and if you find it worthy raise this issue if you can during the chat session...

Cheers!! ...

Thousands of people join Neopoet and only a handful stay. That is the nature of the internet. No-one has left because of hostility lately, some may have left because they are challenged by the very idea of changing their "greeting card doggeral, from the heart".

There is the issue that Neopoet is a bit slow now but that will be fixed when we re-open to the public very shortly.

Don't believe the poisonous accusations and innuendos you might get by PM or see referred to on the pages.

This issue if it is raised at all should be in an AEC hosted chat.

Jess

I'm sorry but i agree with Raj on this one,
It won't hurt anyone or anything to bring up the subject in a discrete manner and just gently go over it.
But i thank you for your input, and please don't feel like i'm shooting you down.

Thank you.
Nichole

I Agree with you, and i will bring up this subject. I'm sure Paul would want me to.
I will, however run it past him first.
Thank you very much for the advice, I hope to see you in one of my chat rooms.
Thanks again.

must agree with jess on this one, open chats are not a forum for the discussion of problems that we have with the site, the AEC chat session is where it will be useful, so that solutions etc can be put into action.

But of course you are free to discuss what you like.

As chairperson of the chatroom I would like you to know that these recommendations are appreciated when we come to an agreement on how to address this issue as a community or structured room we will let you know. We value any input from our community and strive to resolve any issues we can. Thank you for input

Paul

let me clarify a bit on what was my intention while making the suggestion to Nichole..

difference of opinions are but expected in a community and everyone is entitled to raise an opinion ..i also agree that this being a poetry workshop site both positive and negative criticisms on the poems posted should be welcome by those who post them...having said that there should be guidelines/norms for negative criticism in as much as they remain objective and are not personalized ..so that a fellow member's sentiments are not attacked to the extent that he or she decides to leave...this is because one has to consider the fact that not everyone's mind set is able to "take the rough with the smooth"....especially because poets..amateurs or pros are generally very sensitive by nature...i hope i have been able to convey my intent...

However a chat to clear the air would be most invaluable.

the guidlines do cover the things that you mention, but they can be improved and so they are under review .

thanks for updating me about the guidelines...yet i feel the fact that they are not being followed by some needs attention..having said that i also do realize that this is more an issue of social responsibility ...

I tend to sit on the side lines on this one (rather than the fence!), because it is a new discussion for me. I have to agree with all parties, and yet side with one! Raj, yes, in principle it is often a good idea to get "things out into the open"! Trouble with that is, certain people have different agendas based on their motives. The outcome then often becomes a slippery slope, that soon becomes an avalanche of indefensible criticism! So: in principle a good, altruistic suggestion, but in real terms, a dangerous one!
Thanks for your input!
