John and Sarah

His head is down,
she thinks it's depression,
but his stomach is so bad
there are tears to wipe
along with periodic prostate seepage.

Depressed, yes he is.

He doesn't believe he can work,
how will they live,
how can he ever be of value ...

His head is down
but he rises to privately wipe secretions,
and his watering eyes,
so she thinks he is only depressed.

Deep sigh, Richard. I wonder if he might tell her. She probably already knows and doesn't have the heart to tell him. Perhaps they could share the burden.

One of those true-to-life poems that will always grab me, twist my guts and won't let me go.

Thank you and you are certainly correct, to share
would be the way to go but I've seen this before, some
men will suffer in pain for a very long time.

sad is the way of some things

thanks Anna~

I is clear that the man has some kind of serious illness, though I would prefer to know exactly what it is. This is beautifully concise.
Best wishes,
Robert.

Yes, it is clear he is suffering and should get it seen to,
sometimes it takes a while to come to grips.

Loved this write it was full on and true, the man as with most cannot bring himself to say no matter what the cause is, be it illness or work disappearing, it is a fact that the head will sink as reality sinks in, no longer being the bread winner is a hell of a thing to hold in the mind it is always a lonely place.
Great write, Yours Ian.T

.
There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

I know you've met men that have done this,
different situations with the same feelings,
sad situation to be out of control.

thanks for commenting Ian,

Richard
