WHERE ELEPHANTS GO TO DIE --re post and rewrite

Where Elephants Go to Die

in forests dense and dark
there are places
mysterious
where elephants go
to die alone
for alone is how dying is done.
they never know fear
pass on and mourn their dead
in quiet acquiescence

in a forest deep and dark
of my Mind's invention
something of me is hdden
blind to the fear of ending.
it knows its way to that special place
and waits
in quiet acquiescence

is this a re-write of Rhia's workshop poem?...

raj (sublime_ocean)

No, I wrote ths as the first post when NEO came back. No one seemed interested so I rewrote parts that neeeded some work,

author comment

piece of writing Joe. Elephants are one of my favorite animals!

"Death" is nonsense: what is there to die?
"Life"? How could " life" "die"? That is a contradiction
in terms. Can "light" become "darkness"?
"Light" can only cease to be apparent

Thanks, Lenny.

That can be appreciated
By those who know your condition
And
If you recall
Yul Bryner also had said

Man is born,
Lives and dies alone.

What a great similarity

i didn't know about that side of elephants as explained in the first stanza of your poem...

i liked the way you have connected it with the "mind & thoughts" in the second stanza ...very well done..

Thanks. raj/ Elephants have fr the most part a tender heart.

author comment

you are right...if one cares to look in their eyes one can sense how gentle there heart is...which is a stark contrast to their size

raj (sublime_ocean)

Yes and they have extraordinary grace in spite of size.

author comment

that's true...their gentle gait...stride...the way they lift their trunk is so pleasing to the eyes...

and after reading the information in the first stanza...they are so graceful in their parting too...
