Neurotransmitters

Each of us humans
has a pleasure center
somewhere in our brain

It gets tickled
or stimulated
when we see an ad
for something we think
we'd like
and, then it really gets a charge
when we slap down
the payment,
and assume ownership

But, that feeling
can fade
and the pleasure center
craves something more,
another tickling,
and we go on
looking
and living

Oh, man, ain't this the truth, and that is just the way those that wish to snag us like it.

Have you noticed that stores are full of things that we don't really need. Where do they make all that crap anyway?

Thanks.... I've been reading a book by Howard Bloom, The Genius of the Beast, .... there's a quote from a chapter in the book: "Consumer lusts aren't manufactured by marketing campaigns. They're built into the neurons of your brain."

so, we crave novelty, "things" on a pretty basic level - but that craving/ reward cycle has brought many things like the printing press, the digital watch, the laptop computer, etc.... and it's not all bad - but there is a lot of crap we have to weed through...........
