sleeping with a medici

you are the type of guy
who ends up in night court
pleading not guilty, expounding
differences between stalking girls and
adoration
you attend political rallies for
free drinks and the whores
half drunk on aspirations to be
the first to fuck a candidate, with
you, all too eager to oblige
but you forget their names
you write on freeway overpasses
how god is necessary and so is death
but you'd never hug a tree or write
eulogies for your family. waited four hours
at an airport and still you missed my plane.
and you need to know these things:

i still love you despite you being
willing to sleep with a goat
if it gave you a promising line or two
you can steal my breath, take the words
right off my tongue, publish them
behind my back

i'll love you for it. i love you for
the lines of your hips on mine in bed,
of your fingers in my hair, of the note
left on my pillow in the morning.

I used to love bad boys too, then I was saved from my own foolishness by poetry. lol.

But oh, the excitement, the challenge, the daring, the Medici charm! Who am I kidding? Under the saint, the sinner!

line 10, all *too* eager to oblige..

lol thanks for the spot on the 'too' I always miss that as I type too quick :P as for bad boys lol I am just catching up after my divorce because I think you have to experience everything at least once yes? lol Well that's my story at least and I'll stick with it.

Indeed, CC, that's the *raw stuff* of poetry, eh?

"Three things in my judgment are called for for a perfect work of painting, namely, a good support, a wall or wood or cloth or whatever it may be, on which the paint is applied; a master who is very good both in drawing and in color; and, besides this, that the matters painted be, in their own nature, attractive and pleasant to the eyes." Medici (1449 - 1492)

Depends on whether we see ourselves as the paint, the canvass, the wall, the painter
or the painting, eh?

Once upon a long, long time ago, I loved a man just like this. Loved... No, I was addicted to him. His physical being made my head spin. To me, he was living art. good work. Love the title!

always, Cat

This was strong. In fact, it felt, in reading, like unsuspectingly drinking a very strong, very old cup of coffee in anticipation of possibly a minor burn, but instead getting a scorching of rancid.
Which is why I so love this. You did a fantastic job on this. :) Thanks for bringing me here. I think I like it.
