HAVE A GOOD YEAR

HAVE A GOOD YEAR

In my tiny bedroom, by the corner
The evening sun cast its golden rays
Through the window, on the desk, I sat
My shadow silhouetted against the wall
Doing nothing, just sitting, a still life
In a limbo of some sorts, dreaming
Of a world with countless promises
Beep-beep blinked away the reverie
The in-box text read, ‘Have a good year’
I sighed, dreading the departing ghoul
Amen. I intoned the avowal and hoped
Our people say, bury your mother well
Better things will tag along your path
This, I performed, with it, the old year

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?
Last few words:
HAVE A GOOD YEAR
