My poor little Pump

Nose to the grindstone
24/7
Giving always more
without one groan

Even when I'm asleep
You labor on
Just to benefit me
Never hearing one beep

into you I pour
all of life's vices
struggling with it
deep in your core

How much more
will you take
of this brazen abuse
from this life's whore

I must answer the call
from my poor little one
Before it just stops
Causing my fall

You pump and pump
my little poor heart
tireless friend
until life's last bump

Dear Eddie,

This piece is unique and original! I find it refreshing to read a poem of the heart without mention of the emotional elements! Keep on writing.

always, Cat

And responds, please be courteous
And reply in kind, thanks.

For when you rest that heart
you'll gain another start
rest that soul
before it too gets old
Take time to rest
your heart will
pump to you
it's very best...

Just for you a little wee doo wop....I like this piece of work and yes we know all too well how the body can push and push until it says the heart says Hey slow down and tend to me once in a while:)

We forget that the heart is a vital organ, and it's care is important to life. We must respect the job it does and not thing that it will not stop without it's proper care. So love it as you do a mother brother sister and all those close to you, after all it is in your chest.
We need to wake everyday and say," thank you poor little heart for the work you do even when I sleep"

Like so many things we take for granted until it causes trouble. This is a good reminder...........stan

That's the point we should not have to be reminded, include myself.
We must make a true effort not to forget.
Thanks Stan.

"My little poor heart"......my poor little heart, or it means poor as in not rich! ...dear little heart?

without 'a' groan possible but then the rhythm, but the rhythm is what I tripped on here.

"Never hearing one peep"...who never hears a peep- looked up the word peep- beep I know and pip(peep) in Norwegian is the right word here.

I think we would say Into your heart..."On to you I pour"

Just some hiccups here I feel but the idea is charming.

"All of life's vices
Struggling With it"...all of the vices THEY not it- plural!

Personifying the heart! poor little thing or...?

"tireless friend
Until life's last bump"... you tireless friend
till life's last bump.

Only possible thoughts here dear Eddie, yes you must listen sometimes to the pumping of the heart it is ever faithful to you, hopefully for a very long time. Love from Ann in Norway.

"The image of yourself which you see in a mirror Is dead,
but the reflection of the moon on water, lives." Kenzan.

Thank you I made some of the changes, I appreciate you looking carefully at my writes.
Thanks Buddy.

We all make our choices, I just don't want to walk around dragging an iron lung in toll.
I don't want to have liver spots on my beautiful body either, but that my choice and I nrespect yours because that's your body, as long as you love it no one can tell you a word.
Love to you always,
Eddie C.
