Midnight Ramblings

The news lady speaks,
and I'm almost listening ...
but I want her focus here,
and here.

Politicians,
puppets for lobbyist with the most,
money makes the world go around,
the world go round
the world go round.

Where have all the trees gone
I wish the Library had midnight hours
Wonder if she bought cookies
Why are people so cruel

The news lady speaks of murder,
with a straight face, and a very
kissable mouth ...
and the world goes round.

Thanks for reading, didn't know how this one would fare,
the original title was something like " 23 seconds in the middle
of the night" ... thought it too long.

glad you read and congrats again to ya

interesting this,
"Where have all the trees gone
I wish the Library had midnight hours"
would you prefer the library to half listening to the news
at midnight, I love the title, I just had to come and read
on seeing it, my present post also mentions
the news ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,zigs

I salute anyone who breaks the rules in the interest of art and great poetry writing just as much as I admire poets who craft meter and verse within the confines of good grammar. Walk the tight rope or jump from it and see if you can fly.

I would rather be in the library, but ... we still have the
net, youtube has almost anything ya want. The news is
an extensive topic, I hate the way they try to manipulate
our thinking, and I think it goes much further than any of
us realize ... but, that sounds sorta paranoid huh, but it is
also the reason I don't watch much television.

I'll be sure and check out your write

I so enjoy snapshot poetry, which this definitely feels and reads like. the freeform you chose works well with this kind of narrative poetry. I look forward to reading more.

LOVE THIS!

ramblings indeed ...but also randomly connected
(how did you do that?)

clever line break between 2nd and 3rd in the
second stanza

in my opinion?
so much better a write than may
be thought on just one read

subtle nuances give this punch
i think this is a very, very clever write...
no random thoughts here, despite the "ramblings"...
slick construction

a kick arse ending

nothing to critique ...only praise

cheers
p

This was one of those that I knew I liked,
but was really unsure as to how others may
view it. I don't know about how clever it is but
I'm glad you liked it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the way you put this puzzle of words together. You have aways been able to put scamble words from your heart and soul in to a finely tuned poem. Great work.

Friends,

Thank you, glad you liked it ...

Richard,

very clever piece. Well crafted and melted together. Particulary like the repeated line and as you know me by now, would have liked that repeating to have continued throughout.

You made me smile with this, although i don't think humour was intended:

The news lady speaks of murder,
with a straight face, and a very
kissable mouth ...
and the world goes round.

I used to have a secret obsession with our newsreader when I was 7...she was gorgeous and always smiled at me when I watched!

Thanks for posting this one...you just get better and better.

ps. you should read some David Icke...world news corruption is his favourite subject...as well as reptillians ruling the world!!

I think I've read some Icke, the name is familiar anyway, I'll
look him up.

You were wrong about the news gal, she was looking at me !!!!
and it didn't matter what I said or did (lol)

you had me laughing for real, thanks, it was needed.

I guess I will do without any news, rather than manipulative news. Why is it so damned hard for them to tell the truth. I mean it isn't like we can do anything about it. I hope everything is going well for you.

Sorry, I'll be glad when we get the notifications back,
I miss so many comments the way it is now. The news
has turned to entertainment, the only way to hear the whole
story is to listen to what isn't said, and determine for ourselves
where the truth lay.

We are doing ok, hope ya'll are too.

I have felt this helpless and small, at midnight, wondering about it all.

We have certainly dug a ditch, and are finding ourselves so removed from the horrors of what we do to each other. We are a beautiful race, and a cruel and selfish race.

Such a vast case of "I" trouble abounds. It is only when we look beyond self and remember the connection of all men, that we will remember our roots. No exceptions.

I loved the picture painted here in your fine free verse. The repeated lines work well in this stark poem giving it the poetic lift it needs to make it fly.

Well done Richard.

So glad you dropped in to read this one,
I find myself up in the night wondering and
writing quite a bit ... we can't escape the beauty
or the tragedy of life, it's in our face whether we
choose to see it or not, thanks for commenting.
I'm not a fan of repetition at all, but sometimes it
can be a useful tool (when it works), glad you felt
it did in this one.

This is as good as poetry gets...

As my hero, Salman Rushdie wrote:

"A poet's work . . . to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world and stop it from going to sleep."

It used to mean something on NEOPOET.

Note to Self: I have got to stop doing some many things at the same time!

You are the morning to me, bright and vividly alive~
