First Hour

It's refreshing to see a new community of poets online and this will be a interesting journey with new people, new poetry and some old friends.

Is this your poem or are you just saying hello and have you been in here before? It says old friends so I am assuming maybe so. I do not remember this name but perhaps it was before I came on board here. Welcome to you just the same. Nice to meet you

Magics Mona

No I am just saying hello here, a friend of mine who was on the old Neo site told me of this place when I was considering a place to go after being an Allpoetry member for over 5 years. It was time to move on and away from that community to someplace where poetry perhaps is the important factor rather than the 'drama' lol so he suggested I enlist here, so far this is exciting as it's new and open to all sorts of possibilities.

Who was the poet who referred you to this site? (I'm only asking, because I might know the poet.)

And welcome to Neo! It's always good to see new poets on the site.

His first name is Sean but I am afraid he never told me what his username was on the old Neo, I met him at Allpoetry and he suggested I come check this out.

The workshop it is and glad whoever told you to join here so I may and we may enjoy your work. Always remember whatever site you work on there will always be drama and most of it is what you make of it yourself. If your art directs you to write you will learn much on here as this community brings with it adversity, culture, and a whole different perspective on writing. I have learned much here and know that I always come back here for there is a deep reason and respect for this site.

I am happy you are here and would also like for you to give it a go and critique one of my writes, whether they are trite or bright. lol

Best of wishes to you
Mona (Magics)

I have been at allpoetry for about the same amount of time. And well, things aren't lively there in a poetic way, not anymore, not for many years, I'm afraid. I agree with you though - I'm all for heaps and heaps of possibilities.

We both made a change, the young influx on AP although some are quite good young poets, most have the social aspect in mind and it behaves more like a chat site these days and I can switch on my TV and watch the Bold and the Beautiful if I want a soap opera. The new beta site there is to be launched in a couple of months and the layout pushes the poetry all to one side to allow the social aspect to be the big winner...with me that was a big loser. The good poets there rarely post now and most I have on my facebook and some I have met in real life on my travels..the rest are either drama queens or kids that I feel should have a separate site and not able to view the adult stuff until 18 at the moment there it is 15 and I feel it's too young. Kevinism rules and I must say I prefer this democracy much better :)

CC, I felt the same way, when I briefly tried AllPoetry while Neopoet was down; way too many kids, very little real criticism, few serious poems of any merit, and very few adults posting anything. What little real criticism there was seemed driven by the desire to acquire stars, and not a genuine desire to help increase skills.

Welcome to Neopoet.
We have a number of excellent Aussie poets here, and adding to their ranks is most definitely a good thing. I believe you will find Neopoet a very good place in which to share poetry with others from all over the world, and improve upon whatever skills you would like to.

great to see you here.
An interesting feature, unique to Neopoet, I think, is the Revisions tab, where you can follow the evolution of a poem.

have not had time to read all your stuff yet, but what I have read seems pretty good. Being more a western classic guy myself, I realize I'm not much of a judge of free verse but I'll help as I can.............scribbler

Thanks Scribbler, I just enjoy anyone who mosey's on by :)
