scarce
away
away
the traffic rumbles past
on the snow muffle street
I came here wanting
you to be here
alive and loud
leaning
bending demanding me
to drive your tea kettle
the switchs you havent
learnt
three blocks south and two
left
the house is hollow
and where are you
living it up somewhere
no smiles for me
what adventure you
are up against
and Im on my own
facing snow crsytals
and rain drops
with half a mickey
in my pocket and
some pain killers
to while away
the hurt that nibbles me
to death
you would have dulled
the sweet ache
you have the gift..

i can not hear you just yet
the bookmark you left
slowly tears
the song in two
the pages parted
life
chews the bone
spitting
fire
burning
accolades
steam
from a teapot

"you would have dulled the sweet ache"
some require no words
a mere presence a close approximation of
touch nothing lasts each day in its exacted
moment a moon cradled in lush ragged light
