Precious Time

Precious Time

way back then we had so much
time to spend, we never knew
what a crime it was to waste.
by sandy pathways under skis so blue
we wandered down by the spring-fed lake.
spreading a blanket on the bank
relaxing in the shade we shared a book
under the long boughs of a leafy tree.
a few sweet kisses in each others arms,
in the dappled light we fell into sleep,
awakening to the shadows cast by purple sunset.
striping off our clothes, running hand-in-hand
we jumped into the cool waters, splashing down.
as the bright moon came rising over the lake, so did our passion
ensuing in our love making in the lake's green waters.

I'm glad that you had such a rich childhood, it makes me smile to imagine it. five mikes away from where I lived was the Lake District. Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet, Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake. my favorite was Cedar Lake. it had lots of grassy spots. in the fall I fished there for crappies! it wasn't so far that I couldn't ride my bike to. I'm glad you had this memory.

you were pretty young now as age catches up time is still a constant but we change so much our time varies with our breathing kissing was then a new thing now its just a routine Time seems to weigh heavy we had no computers only typewriters and mostly we wrote poems using our pencils time appeared to be lesser ha what a guess then kisses were quicker now we have slowed down like the Nile do you know its speed the lake is still still as it was
