Commercial Break...

Here he is the boyfriend, husband
Being the buffoon
Mommy, girlfriend or fiancee
Tells him sing this tune

Meekly, he complies; "Yes Dear
How do you want it sung?"
Do it this way darlin'
She has his bell, it's rung

If I were the commercial producer
She would stick to a floral smell
Hands out for my deoderant
I'd tell her go to Hell!

How did Father get to be an idiot?
Mom's got to have her way
Choose the way for the man to do it
Huh, that should be the day!

Dad's just a sheepish wallet
Mom gets to spend the loot
The woman picks the car
I'd give that bitch the boot!

I don't mind that a sweet lady
Gets to run the house
But a man can do it too
Without being quite the mouse

So wise up, with the commercials
Don't play with our domain
Let a woman be a woman
Without causing their man pain.

Some of us need to stand up for those Men that either cannot or will not. Something about “living by example” or similar…. On of my pet peeves is that thing called a “man bun”…

Thanks for posting this. The theme really appeals to me.

about the man bun, but that doesn't bother me half as much as all the commercials that make the man look like a fool! If my mother-in-law used my deodorant and my bathrobe, she would never set foot in my house again. If I bought a couple of cars for us for Christmas and she decided to take the one that I chose for myself because she liked the color better, she would get a ride to the dealership to pick her own color, not take mine. Too many times, the man is made to look like a mouse that is cowed by the woman and meekly accepts whatever she decides. In the commercial where the man is supposed to be the focus of the advertisement, "Old Spice" they have the mother-in-law taking his deodorant and bathrobe! Now, do I want to wear a deodorant that a man like that wears? I Don't think so! ~ Geez.

what's a man bun?

that chooses to curl it around and into a "bun", wearing it on the back of his head. I suppose he would be using some sort of hairpin to hold it there...

I have never seen one of these.
It sounds kinky.

I believe that Americans call the buttocks "buns", so I am relieved a man bun is not a single, detached male buttock.

..mother-in-law used my old spice, she'd be getting some english leather. Lol! Seriously, I still believe that men work and women raise the children and so makes Her head of the family. Call me a womanizer, but I prefer to be called "traditional" haha!

But a real woman respects and honours her man.

this is a source of contention; and that there will be plenty of people that will agree and disagree. I believe that when both people work, they should share in the responsibility of running the house. My argument with commercials today, is that many of them make the male figure to be a buffoon, the one who always who makes mistakes, does things half-assed and in general is stupid, silly and chastised [in a fond way of course]. Mom is never wrong, and always getting her way. And a mother - law that uses her daughter's husband's deodorant and wears his bathrobe is pushing things too far! I will never use "Old Spice" while they air that commercial and maybe never again! ~ Geez.

are a form of propaganda in my opinion. Brainwashing. Stereotyping. Maybe that's why they don't bother me? I stopped watching television because of them.

Stopping watching TV just because some channels carry ads is silly and cuts off your nose to spite your face. All you do is you mute the commericials so you don't need to hear the rubbish and go out to get a glass of wine. Alternatively you watch channels without commercials.

I remember this horrid aftershave from my youth. I didn't know it was still on sale. At least it was never as bad as "Brut" - now there's a CHEAP odour!

Brut, was especially bad. I used to like some of the supposedly cheap ones from Avon. I really liked one called Excalibur, and another one that I can't remember the name of. My favorite colognes right now, are euphoria by Calvin Klien and Polo although I rarely wear after-shave or cologne these days.

Here in England there was a particularly awful ad campaign for Brut in the 70s/80s. This involved some well-known macho but very obviously mentally retarded boxer, built like an outside toilet, splashing the filthy muck on his bruiser face and then declaring in the most loathsomely common accent, "Yeah, I lerv the great smell ov BROOT" This was meant to convey to the viewer that you weren't a raving poof if you used aftershave and also that every little slapper in the vicinity would be keen for a bit of the other with anyone who reeked of the muck. Subtle, eh?

Repeater!
