The Man Nnamdi Kanu (Ohamadike)

Whenever I see your face, I stand.
Whenever I hear your voice, I stand.
When they say your name, I stand.
When they ban your name, still I stand.

Honor, they say, give to whom it's due,
And then I ask:
Where lies the greatest honor
For a man in all times the greatest?

A man about whom many years ago I dreamed,
A man by whom the shackles away shall melt.
Many tears of Ndi-Igbo joy shall become,
And all the voiceless people shall their voice regain.

Alas, today reminds me freedom isn't free!
But at a cost it comes, which alone you bear.
The sound of their guns, though so loud,
But in your ears louder sound the cries of your people.

Ah, the oppressors hither and yon, run!
Their oppression fortresses to pieces gone,
Their conspiracies now so revealed,
Nowhere to hide, your hands seek they for peace.
Because you dared, for your people you stand.

Oh, show me where can I the honor find
For a man whose courage in the realms unearthly!
Whose voice makes bright the dark so cloud,
And sing them, the stars in riveting accord,
To the awe of the seas who watch and hope.

Ohamadike, Ohamadike, to thee I salute!
To you my hat I humbly, so humbly dof!
Though deep inside of me lies my joy,
Yet within me worries much surge,
Knowing too well how steep, how deep the road ahead lies,

But then, I remember, Biafran strong ever you are,
Faithful to the cause,
Faithful to all who gave and still give it all.
So with you I stand, forever my hero.

Whenever I see your face, I stand.
Whenever I hear your voice, I stand.
When they say your name, I stand.
When they ban your name, still I stand.

of a man who is willing to stand up against the forces of tyranny. I'm not familiar with his actual history, but I can guess that he
has fought for the freedom of his people against the people that want to keep them enslaved to the government. I wouldn't change a thing! It is the language that is broken, not your voice! Well done! ~ Geez.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Your words are inspiring. This freedom fighter deserves all and more. The background to this poem is the struggle of Ndi-Igbo in southeastern Nigeria known as Biafra. And this hero portrayed is the one championing this struggle. Thanks.
