Last Man (contest I Believe in Something too Quickly)

In a time that’s not marked
by the hands of a clock
nor the afterglow of setting suns,
Superman overflies a luminous, beholden Earth.
He has accomplished his mission.

No dams with fearsome cracks
nor bad men sabotaging railtracks.
Car-bombs threaten nobody’s lives
nor do schoolkids wielding knives.
Suicide pilots surrendered their powers
and there are no more fiery towers.
He spies no damsels to save from misfortune,
He eliminated genocide and torture.
Cataclysms and destruction have ceased,
there are no refugees adrift on high seas.
He ended conflicts under a Peace banner
and taught people plain good manners.

Lois bad farewell to her office
(there are no office workers left),
no heart dreams her,
no bespectacled Clark Kent
wanders corridors with naïve formality.
Nobody wanders anywhere.

Superman triumphed over brute Nature
and solved the Original Cypher,
rewrote the human genome
and the DNA of all living things.
Emptiness hails each fresh sunrise,
all bonds and passions flown,
he wings his way through lonely skies.

Of a sudden, he descries a twinkling light,
signal from essential realms.
Last Man,
Superman sets out on his long flight
to the source of Consciousness and Love.
He bows before Being itself,
all spirits...One.

Thank you so much for your kind comments, dear Teddy. Yes, I've been away because my muse has been failing me. I'm glad you like the concept of time without clocks! I don't think this is anywhere near a masterpiece, but you've lifted my spirits.
I think you also deserve kudos, you keep us all laughing with some of your poems, like the ice-cream one.
I'll try out going into edit as you suggest, tx for the tip.
Best wishes, Gracy

I really appreciate the use of "Superman" as the protagonist. I love the way you are thinking out of the box on this one! ~ Geez.

Dear Geez, I suppose it's out of the box, if you say so. I was playing around a bit with the idea for some time. So this is the result.
I missed the chat last night, arrived late, so sorry.
Best wishes, Gracy

coming to chat, but I understand, that it must difficult to judge the time. Maybe next time. For me, nothing is out of the box! I just had a conversation with someone about that very thing! I like to have fun with poetry. It doesn't always have to be a somber, tragic-romance or a intellectual theme. It can be flights of fantasy and wishes come true. Your muse came up with a good one this time. So nice to see you writing! ~ Geez.

Hi again Geez, thank you for your comments. I agree that poems can be different sometimes, athough I thought I was being a bit crazy with this one! Glad you like it. My muse returned, playing tricks with me...I'll try to chat this coming Saturday. Do you chat other nights? I sometimes take a peek, but there's nobody around. I suppose it's the time difference.
Kind regards, Gracy
