things I want you to know

I am mad at you today
you have apologized
I said I forgave you
but still, I feel mad.

I want you to know that I still feel mad sometimes
mad that YOU switched up
mad that you switched it up
mad that it changed after we said "I do"

I want you to know I still resent you sometimes
for loving me in every way
for loving me in every form
except for the way that I receive love

I want you to know that I still miss you sometimes
I miss the way you used to look at me
I miss the way you smiled when my lips grazed yours
when I teased to kiss you.

I want you to know that I still want you sometimes
even when you seem so distant
even when your body is here and your mind is absent
this was supposed to be our honeymoon phase

I want you to know that I still love you
Even though it's still today
and I am still mad at you

Welcome to Neopoet! You have touched on two subjects
that are central to being in a relationship. Acceptance
of who we are and forgiveness for not understanding who we are.

I'm sure this poem is relatable for many. We tend to look at things
purely from our side of the story and people often agree to many things
for the end result, rather than take the time to ask the questions
and make sure of the intent of the individual.

I know that there will be people that say you have used the word [mad]
too many times and ordinarily, I think I would agree with them.
This time, I understand that you need the power of repeating the word
to gain the reader's attention. Words like [angry and upset] just don't
capture the mood!

My one suggestion about changing a word, would be; instead of using
the word [receive], I would maybe use: [want or need]. All in all
a really good first post! ~ Geezer.

Hello, B. Luna,
I very much like the back and forth nature of your poem - your take on giving and receiving, being present and then absent. I feel the confusion and the hurt/anger. I will agree with Geezer regarding "receive" love versus needs or wants. For me, it doesn't quite justify the thought of being mad if it's in your hands how it is received. Just a thought...
Welcome, and I look forward to reading more!

your poem reads like it is too redundant
