Awake

Aha!
Last night I dreamed
I was laughing.
At what, I don't remember.
But that's not the part that matters.
I woke up happy.
Alive.
Awake to simply...
be.

I drank honey tea
from a favorite cup,
and as I held it in my hand,
I could almost feel its pulse,

much like a seed deeply planted
beneath dark, rich soil
eager to break the earth -
ready to sing.

This is absolutely a very positive and uplifting read. I love it.
The closing lines are exquisitely expressed.
Kudos :)

I truly did sing after rising! Kinda rare to feel that way within the past year or so, but looking ahead!
Thank you for your visit and your warm comments!

Happy dreams are indeed few and far between mixed in with these trying times. I completely enjoyed it! Haven't a clue what I was laughing about, but no matter!
Thank you, wonderful Teddy!

than a nightmare, huh? So nice to see that at least some of us have great dreams where we wake feeling happy and refreshed. I like honey in my tea too! Just a spot of cream and a bit of honey. I felt the pulse of this too! Thank you for this nice little bit of happiness! Your last stanza reminds me of an old black and white cartoon from my younger years, where the animals of the woods and the plants all are waking up and stretching out to the tune of something I think is called Clare de Lune? You've made my morning, thank you! ~ Geez.

I immediately looked up Clair de Lune and found the Fantasia version - beautiful! Thank you! Personally, my anxiety level has been pretty darn high, so a happy dream is welcome. Thank you for reading and commenting, as always!

after going to listen to Clair de Lune, I realized that it was not what I thought it was. It bothered me enough that I had to search for the one that I was thinking of. It took me the better part of an hour, but I found it! The music is called: Morning Mood by
Edvard Grieg. He also wrote: In the Hall of The Mountain King and some others that I'm sure that you will find you remember.

I recognize "Morning Mood!" Hadn't heard it since my childhood - the moment was EXACTLY like that!
Thanks, Geezer!

Hi L, what a happy poem, or song sounds more like it. It's lovely to dream nice things, lately I've had a few nightmares! But never mind, you've made me laugh and that's a gift not many poets have. Although here at Neo there is plenty of humor.
Paying a visit, hope to write poetry again soon, but not inspired.

Happy dreams don't happen too often - anxiety works its way in to the sleeping hours. I guess that's why it felt so wonderful! Your lovely muse shows herself in your comments, Gracy. Thank you for lending a helping hand.
