Keeping Bees (villanelle)

In May, in May, the month of May,
The bees returned from bloom to hive;
Oh, what a world, so bright and gay,

But then the keeper came one day
And blew his smoke, took them alive
In May, in May, the month of May.

He set about his task without delay
And smoked them numb, then to revive;
Oh, what a world, so bright and gay.

He boxed them up, none got away,
Although a few did not survive
In May, in May, the month of May.

The job well done, this I must say,
The keeper shipped the entire hive;
Oh, what a world, so bright and gay.

The bees fared well, arrived today
Among peach bloom where they will thrive
In May, in May, the month of May;
Oh, what a world, so bright and gay.

great! I love the thought of bees just doing their job, no matter that they are shipped half-way across the country. Doing what they are born to do. If mankind was half so ambitious and dedicated to the job of making this world a better place; it would be
Paradise in no time. I hope your bees make lots of honey and pollinate the hell out your peach trees! Nice Villanelle and a pleasant scene. I can almost see the bees buzzing quietly, making things sweet. ~ Geez.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

glad you like my villanelle that's based on fact, as my son had shipped me his entire bees stock all the way from Connecticut all the way to sunny Arizoma, the state of perpetual bloom--at least where I live. Yes, those little honey makers are doing well and enjoy the pollen from our cacti and citrus bloom. My son had to quit the hobby of bee keeping because of a blackbear problem. Those buggers were destroying his hives to get at the honey. Thanks, Geezer; so pleased you commented. Thank you, sir. Jerry
