some song lyrics for you guys

Forums:

Hi, I'm a poet new to this site, but I'm also a songwriter, and my friend Teddy wanted me to share some lyrics so here is, for your entertainment, "Baby, I'm Home". Much like Jason Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem", this too is a feel-good-coming-home country song, except I added a few verses about my ex. Only moderate constructive criticism please if you're gonna give feedback.

Baby, I’m Home

Yeah I’m cruising down my drive. It’s been a long day, time to unwind.
I’m home, yeah baby I’m home. I open the door and the day just fades away. And I think to myself, I just want to stay.
And not go out, the very next day though I’ll want to.
What we had was good, it was fun. While it lasted, but we’re done. Oh it was great, holding you for a while.
Though you say your name looks good on my phone. Don’t bother calling, leave me the hell alone.
I don’t want to get back with you. Yeah baby we’re through.

Yeah, cause you didn’t know how to be with me.
Baby, that’s on you, not on me.
I’m doing just fine. I’m better off living without you.
And as the cold wind blows on those dark winter nights.
I still think of your warmth, although you’re no longer mine.
I’m doing just fine. I’m better off living without you.
Baby, I’m Home
Yeah I’m cruising down my drive. I think I’ll go out and have a good time. See some old friends, along with Bailey and Jim. I’m switchin’ gears and turning up my songs. It’s Friday night, and Skynard’s on.
‘Cuz nothin’ can bring me down now, baby not even you.

Yeah I’m cruising down my drive. It’s been a long day, time to unwind.
I’m home, yeah baby I’m home. I open the door and the day just fades away. And I think to myself, I just want to stay.
I’m home, yeah baby I’m home.

I’m home, yeah baby I’m home.

Wow, I'm humbled by your comment, Teddy!!! Really am.

These are fantastic lyrics, and ten times better than anything I could ever writer! They feel very much like a song, and Skynard means you've got good taste in music too!! Amazing job, and I can't wait to see more from you! :D

Thank you, Asche. I appreciate that. Songwriting is not as easy as poetry. (my dad brought me up on Skynard, although my mom did most of the raising)
