What it's like to be the Depressed me

What it’s like to be the Depressed me

What it’s like to be the Depressed me?
It’s hell, you see
Covid-19, it’s affecting us all
None of us wanted to take the fall
But for us people with messed up minds, it’s even worse
It’s like a curse
My Depression had come back, you see
And that’s something no-one wants to be
When you’re Depressed, the happier, motivated self you once knew, you can say goodbye to
It’s a disease, not meant to please
A version of yourself you don’t ever wanna be, trust me
You see, mine all started back in 2008 when I lost my best friend
We said we would be together ‘til the end
But then she decided she didn’t want anymore of this life, so she said goodbye
For a while I felt I was left high and dry
I was so shocked I couldn’t even cry
But it did make me stronger in the end, farewell, Sandi, my friend
What it’s like to be the Depressed me

Teddy, I love your name. Interesting find...I posted this very same poem to powerpoetry.org yesterday and the computer said it was very similar to that of Edgar Allan Poe's!! (again, poetry is still so new to me so I didn't know) Still, it got me excited. Yes, I am a songwriter. I truly appreciate your comment. It's good to be here.

A warm Neo Poet welcome to you. Yes Covid has taken it's toll on all of us in one way or another
I'm not really a fan of rhyme, but your poem is good as far as the rhyme goes

To each their own. As I stated in my bio, I'm also a songwriter so in songwriting, you get a better chance of people liking your stuff if you DO rhyme. Thanks for the critique, and for telling me about the chatroom. It's good to be here.

Wow, OK, Teddy, I didn't know that was allowed but now I just might. (I can't take full credit for my songs though, I owe a lot of my success with that to my two music geniuses Artie and Jim)

I love this poem, especially how much it reads like a song! I figured you were a songwriter before I even opened your bio. ;) I'd love to see some of your lyrics in the future as well!

Welcome to NeoPoet! I'm a newbie too, but everyone here is amazing and so supportive so far!

Thanks for loving my poem, guys. I posted some lyrics in the community forum. I'll also explain who Artie and Jim are there. They're Angels of mine, and I don't put that lightly. Asche, your picture catches my eye, where did you find it? (just curious) Also, I'd love to hear how you knew I was a songwriter even before you read my bio.

Thanks, I'll be glad to check them out! It was a google search for women on fire, or something like that. XD I know that sounds weird, but in reality I'm just super obsessed with fire.

And your poem just sounded like lyrics to me! My sister is also a songwriter (or rather on the road to being one), and it sounded a lot like the general structure of what she writes sometimes. :)

That's not weird. It used to be, when I was in a "fiery" mood, I'd change my Facebook profile pic (back when I had a page) to a pic very similar to yours. And, that's super cool about your sister, I can't even tell you.
