In a Forgotten Field in England

It was my evening, that's
For sure,
‘Its your aura...
When are you going
To be a superstar?’

That seemed to be
The question
On everyone’s lips,
At last, at last, at last
I'm good at something.

References
To my innocent face.
‘You give to everyone
But are incapable
Of giving in particular…

Inscrutable...blasé…’
Everything I’d always
Wanted to be, I now am.
At last, at last, at last
I'm good at something.

'In a Forgotten Field in England' is a collage-like piece which has existed for some time having been initially based on a series of informal notes dating from the early 1980s, but which was recently 'salvaged' as it were, and restructured, although it's still a ramshackle effort.

This piece took me to a dark place. Where is this field? I need to step into the woods edge around it.

The peice did take me along with it, tho. Moving. Thanks for placing it on The Stream

It's kind of symbolic, the field is the space where the events depicted took place, but which no longer exists so is in a sense forgotten. I love your response to it, thank you. Carl.

I love your comment, and yes it's true, this is a snapshot of me in the 1980s, when I was laden with both, charm and self worth for sure. Happy new year! Carl.

is just a tiny bit like bragging, but I wouldn't let it worry me any. We all have that in us. We are afraid most times to be labeled a braggart and often underestimate our self-worth. I would liken this to a great night at a important party. Honest and agreeable. ~ Geez.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

This was the me of the 1980s, every word is from then. And yes you are 100% right, it was a great night, a great party from many years ago. I think it could also be said I am paying today for what could be called excessive self worth, yes verging on braggadocio, but at least I can see that today, and I'm a changed man, thank goodness. Thank you, Geezer, so pleased you like this.
