Rootless

Even this dawn sidesteps us.
Morning Star shines briefly,
a solitary eye
in the maroon dome overhead.
As white day unfolds petals
on our sleeping bodies,
night’s kisses succumb to arteries
of this wasteland, drop by bloody drop.
The portentous sun
locked in an orbit of fire,
is merely some truth willing to shine
on our terminal rock weighed down
by too many generations shedding blood.

We have no roots,
hovering on a surface of oil stains,
retreating glaciers, car cemeteries,
on turnpikes underpinning existence.
We make love in a land foreclosed,
a cavern of pines whose foreign branches
vault over transient encounters.

Lover’s passions are bypassed
by organum calculating genes,
ovules and spermatozoa,
as a clepsydra measures drops of water
in its double-bellied crystal prison.
Where is the instant
that should have been reborn,
the eternal rebound of lovers’ whispers?

A ray of light traced
a golden medal on your breast.
I sensed your exultation,
as if all sorrows in our lives
had concentrated in that tiny circle.
Outside its circumference,
our hearts soared up to a cleistogamic world
not among men.
Let others remain rootless,
let them contemplate dying cycles of Nature,
crops that nobody will harvest,
whilst I kiss your teasing lips.

Thank you, L, for your visit. So glad you like those lines. It's a clepsydra, by the way. I learned a few of these things at uni.
Your visits are always welcome, I need cheering up because I sprained my ankle badly and I'm wearing a heavy boot! Nothing too serious, will be over in about a week.
All the best, Gracy

but only a hobby

So I now don't lobby
some read
many just gloss
that's okay by me

poetry is time pass
like eating monkey nuts
or popcorn
or
enjoying a cup of coffee
at TIM HORTONS

DO have em in Argentine
or tis too warm
then cappuccino

Dear L, thanks for your always welcome visit, always in stylish fashion.
We have cappucchino and many other types of coffee in Argentina. We grow our own coffee crops.
I'm not fond of popcorn or monkey nuts...lol. I don't think your poetry is just a hobby. And I'm definitely not strong. My Fibromyalgia is hurting an awful lot right now and I don't take it at all well. I could scream, literally.
All the best, Gracy

OK, L. I see that many people read your poems and there are quite a lot of new members. These new members don't often make comments. Anyway, my foot is better but I'm still wearing the boot. The weather is hot, so I'm sick of it...lol. Gracy

lest it bites our feet
slowly winter is setting in
life is becoming dull
no work old age is a curse
but not yet not as worse

life is like Christmas Bells
at times only you feel like asking
for whom the bell tolls

read my tribute to
FLASHY

You will see me
ma'am
Gracy

Hi again, L. Well, it's not that hot here, we had 24°C only, but the boot is heavy and goes with a thick sock!
I'm not asking for whom the bell tolls, it's tolled for too many of my loved ones already.
I'll go see your tribute to Flashy, all the best, Gracy
