GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE

Time to edit some old writes.
Tonight I'll do some oldest ones
which might benefit from far hindsight
garnered while I sit on ample buns.

So I go back to ten years ago
when my pen first spilled out ink
and output wasn't near as slow
in writing stuff that didn't stink.

Well here are some from way back then
along with each comment that they had.
Read suggestions and lose my grin
for some suggestions make me sad.

It wasn't comments, though, you see
but the names that authored them;
old friends who used to all help me
to make my scribbles sing like a hymn.

But now they're on that other side,
where ever poets go when they are gone
having taken their final ride
as they head toward a different dawn.

Richard who worked behind the scenes
Judy who led me past being green
Crazy Jess who later was a friend
Lonnie's rhymes I thought would never end
and Steven who taught me second meanings..

And Joe? He knew our art so well.
I wonder if he still is drawing breath
after living through pure hell.
I've heard nothing of his death.

Hence these old edits stir memories
of many who helped me grow the most
gone, now, like last winter's breeze..
One day I will join them as a ghost.

Yes we have but then I go back and edit stuff and there they are in the comments......or at least their shadows

Reading his stuff forced a reader to pay attention and think about what he/she was reading. And any comments he left were spot on in pointing out both the good and bad in a poem

I love this. I really love the whole concept of a ghost in the machine. It has been portrayed by so many artists. Through out writing and many forms of art. You did a good job portraying it. I love how it is about your old poems.

Kisses,
Vivi

always good to see you have dropped by. As this poem says it was inspired by going back and editing some older stuff and there they were.....the words and thoughts of those no longer with us. I am pleased you think well of this because I suck at knowing whether any of my chicken scratchings are worth a hoot

the same. Sometimes, I go back and read old stuff, just to see the comments from the ghosts of Neo. When I read them, I feel as though they are still here with us. I guess that they are and as long as there is a Neo. they will always be. I too, feel lucky to have been a part of the Neo. experience and the 'Old Days'. But with the up and coming poets of today, there will be at least a few new heroes. So let's be here for the heroes of today. One day, we will be the Old Guard and they will write our epitaphs. ~ Nicely done 'Scribbler' ~ Gee.
.

There is value to commenting and critique, tell us how you feel about our work.
This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Yeah one of these days we'll join them and start fussing among ourselves again lol
