Eulogy

He left yesterday. Images of fallow roads
puncture solitude, then fade. The sun erodes
my thoughts like a dry sponge. They grow dim -
love's tendrils wind their way around my heart
to build on solid ground a world apart
that may, by gentle force, go on and round him.

The sky is not my friend today; it casts a garish spell
on dales and dreams. It counterpoises Camelot.
Please give my life some sense of plot.
I'm heartbroken, quite unwell,
Weary nomad by my love accursed,
my life dissolves in threads.
Shining softly on my bed, mock moon,
a gray, autumnal calm spreads down my spine,
has stilled the pain, my oaths may undermine.

of despair and the pain of living on your own. I understand the skies not being friendly; as I too hurt with the change in weather. Even if it goes bad to good, it hurts and it certainly is not going that way; and so the promise of good coming. I don't like winter much and I really dislike the cold weather, but better snow than cold rain and the dank that permeates the skies. Good reading for this cool and clammy day. ~ Geez.

Dear Geez, thanks for commenting. We, at last, are having Spring weather. Long weekend with 15°C, which is perfect for me. Trouble is, I do miss my better half, who died 6 years ago, so I found this poem and brought it over here.
Hope your pains don't trouble you too much, Gracy

Dear Teddy, always so understanding. I've been missing my husband a lot these days. For some reason, the lovely Spring weather makes me sad, remembering all we shared together.
So I found this poem in my files and decided to share it. Didn't want to before, but my heart also changes like the weather...and here it is, my poem and my heart.
You've interpreted my feelings so well, thanks for that, Gracy

Gracy,

a piece that conjurers strong visuals that allow the reader to walk into it & not just feel it all but smell, taste & hear your words.

The bringing in of the sky not being your friend adds depth to the atmosphere you are creating.

Most enjoyable read.

Hi unsub, thanks for visiting and for your kind comments. I'm so glad my poem works for you. I was very sad when I wrote it. It's about my late husband, who died 6 years ago. It's Spring in Argentine Patagonia and for some reason the lovely weather has made me remember everything we shared, so long ago, because he was ill for many years before passing.
All the best, Gracy

Dear Jerry, thanks for your always amusing and encouraging comments. It's a eulogy to my late husband, Carlos. He died 6 years ago, after 15 years of dementia. It was a tough time, the good times together were far too short, especially as I had to care for him through 3 major heart surgeries and other minor ones.
I hope I don't have to write a eulogy for you! Did you read Ian's notice to all of us. Please do.
Yes, my poem could also be a farewell to the long Winter. We're having a bout of sunny days with the temps at 15°C, perfect for me. I dislike hot weather, I drove through Arizona and loved it, but would not want to live there. I suppose you're used to the heat.
Take care, all the best, Gracy

Dear Jerry, what is this shocking news? You're leaving us? I'm dumbfounded, I thought you would be here forever.
BTW, I'm always making incorrect interpretations of people's poems. And I'm not a youngster, I think that is tongue in cheek...lol.
Please reconsider. Maybe you have other plans, such as writing a book or some other project in mind that will keep you away, but only temporarily.
My best wishes, as always, Gracy

Dear Jerry, I understand about the eye strain. Eyes are precious, do give them a rest. I wish you all the best for the surgery. I also get eye strain. I've downloaded a "shader" that makes my screen a soft beige. It also tells me now and then to blink, take a rest, drink water and so on. I downloaded it from Chrome store.
Take care and I will be praying for a successful surgery. Nowadays it always goes well. With affection, Gracy
