Party On...

I guess rules and regulations
prevent my going up in smoke
Except through screens and filters
Should I pass away with a stroke

I'd rather be like the Vikings
set off in a flaming boat
but they won't even let me
wear my leather coat

But, I think that cremation does
make more sense to me
and everyone that wants it
can have a bit [for a token fee]

Have a party on my birthday
and sing "He was a jolly fellow"
Sing my praises to the world
while eating alcoholic jello

I'll be looking down [or up]
singing with you all
Barbecue Killer-style
and have a fking ball

Don't rain upon my party
Don't you fight and fuss
Remember what I stood for
Remember, I loved us

I guess one can make anything funny, if you take that perspective. Well, [almost anything]. I wasn't sure if everyone knew what Jello-shots are, but they are a thing here. My family has them at most parties. I will think about changing that line. We will see. Thanks for your read and comments. ~ Geez.

an aluminum or sheet metal one would do, if they used it during a thunder and lightning storm. I'll bet that it would make a beautiful scene all lit up with blue lightning; not to mention I would indeed, be fried. ~ Geez.

Dear Geez, you can make the darkest topics into fun poems. Enjoyed every bit of this one. No idea what jello shots are! We don't have them in Argentina, but I can make jelly and add some alcohol. Would that do? Maybe I will.
I love every tale about the Vikings. Visited underground Viking village whilst in York. There were real people there, dressed as Vikings and doing various tasks.
Your title, content, spacing and rhyming are all wonderful. I always enjoy reading your works. No nits at all, but I'll try to return and get the whole beauty of your verses. All the best, Gracy

are the product of "Jello" [brand name] instant geletin, that comes in a pkg. add about a half cup of favorite alcohol to the mix instead of water and the rest of the liquid required in water. Jello-shots made with the instant mix are traditionally made with vodka or gin, but I have had some made with brandy, which are quite good. I do suppose that a home-made jelly could be made and used as a spread on toast. Thank you for your read and comments, which I always enjoy. Hope that you are enjoying your Spring weather. ~ Geez,

Thank you, Geez, I knew about Jello but didn't know one could prepare it with brandy or whatever. Maybe I'll try it, sounds good.
Spring went away for a while, I think it'll be back tomorrow.
Best, Gracy

Hi, Geezer,
Party on, indeed! And the flaming boat sounds perfect. I've never had a Jello-Shot, but have partied with those who have - definitely fitting for a farewell sort of gesture. Your poem is fun, for certain, but also lighthearted and comforting to those of us who think of such things a little more often these days. Thanks for that!
