Mi Pueblito Perdido
O how
Ruefully I pine
For mi pueblito perdido,
What I wouldn’t give,
To be young again,
And happy as I was back then.
Maria, full of peace,
Do you remember
Francis Albert softly keening
'O Amor Em Paz',
And other songs by Jobim,
Happy as you were back then?
O for
That wide-eyed
Impression of yours,
Paquita (la de Murcia),
Of your beloved Mary Lyn,
Happy as you were back then.
O how
Ruefully I pine
For mi pueblito perdido,
What I wouldn’t give,
To be young again,
And happy as I was back then.

That's right, Teddy...
My little town, a beloved town of mine from my younger days, yes Spanish is a beautiful language, I adore Italian too, language and culture.

Carl, I love your pining and
Carl, I love your pining and lovely poem about your "pueblito perdido". I also love small towns, villages and cities, I was born in Argentine Patagonia of British immigrants. English was my first language, I soon learned Spanish at school and went on to uni.
Raised on a farm, then bilingual boarding school in Buenos Aires, is the way I became bilingual.
Your title, content and feelings are so genuine, enjoyed all of it, best, Gracy

What a fascinating story, Gracy
I was aware that Argentina has a sizable Anglo-Argentine community, what a fascinating story is yours, I feel a novel in there, or long poem. I'm so pleased you so love this very poignant nostalgic piece, I learned Spanish in Spain, where I went a lot as a child and young man, I am also bilingual, but English and French are my languages, Spanish I know quite well, but am not fluent.
