Encounter [By Gracy]

He'll come tonight
fiery with love's intent
throwing open his arms
to fold me in them

From the cold night
raindrops on his helmet
he flings his wet leather jacket
on a worn tufted rocking chair
he slides under my quilt,
holds me tenderly

He explores my body
lips find lips
our world seems everlasting
Coals glow in the hearth

Echo of his boots on the staircase
Revving up,
triumphant roar of motorbike

I draw my curtains.
Lamp light softens decaying walls
A siren wails
through vacant city streets
Paramedics voices
knife the air through my window.

Yesterday's newspaper
scattered on floorboards
Cold coffee in chipped cups
wet cigarette butts on saucers

Will my boyfriend come again tonight?

if this is how I might have been seen? There was a brief period in my life that could have been this exact scenario. Long past now, I might ask my wife; but, fear that she might have a different view about that time. I might have been a passing fancy and she could ruin my excellent self-image. LoL
Thank you Gracy. ~ Geez.

Hi raj, thanks for coming to visit. Geez posted it for me, I've a glitch or this website has one, because I post my poems and they vanish. Geez kindly did it for me.
Sorry to confuse you, it's my poem, not Geezer's...lol. Best, Gracy

for the clarification. I was confused after reading your name in the title and his name as author.

As always it is having good ingredients, flow and of course your signature style...

hope the glitch is cleared...i believe Geezer may have brought this to the notice of Andre who will fix it...i will also inform him...

loved your poem...

raj (sublime_ocean)

Hello raj, yes, I realized that it would be confusing. I'm hoping that I'll have a spell with no glitches.
Thank you for your encouraging comments, much appreciated, as always.

Thank you, Geez, for posting my poem. I really feel frustrated, because it always says "your poem has been created", then it vanishes. Hope it can be fixed!
Yes, I think most of us went thru' that sort of situation in our young lives, I mean the living conditions and perhaps a boyfriend with a motorcycle. Maybe not the accident, that was fortituous.
Best not to talk about those passing fancies...lol. I don't believe I have, except with friends my own age, women mostly.
Thanks for commnenting and helping out. Hope I have better luck next time.

Geezer- you are such a nice guy for posting this for a fellow member!
Gracy- I had a motorcycle and rode with the WBMC (west-Bank Motorcycle club) in Minneapolis Minnesota. I met a man/now my husband who drove a Bike too.I didn't meet him through the club, though. my lab partner at Northwestern Electronics Instute...her husband at Honeywell worked with Steve and Honeywell was having a softball game after work. my partner invited me to go to the game with her, where I met Steve...and the rest is history. steamy history, lol. your nostalgic poem brought some very fine memories to me. thank you! I loved the imagery in this piece!

Hello Teddy, yes, it's very different, this time around. It happened when I first went to Buenos Aires, I was so silly and would have believed anything. Sometimes, I wonder how I survived. Yes, sort of a Hell's Angel, but we don't have them here, better said, didn't. Poor guy, I fished this out of my files and tweaked it a little. I'll try to repost it, but then all your lovely comments will disappear. We'll see...lol.
All the best and thanks for visiting and leaving your thoughts with me. Gracy

Hello Cat, I'm glad my poem rings a bell for you. Those were the days! We were young and careless, näive too. This poor fella' did not, of course, become my husband. Worse still, at 19 I married a man far older, he was 33. Spoiled my life and I eventually divorced him. He was a borderline psycopath. Another long story, I won't be composing anything about that, just about my children.
Your life has been very interesting. I could not afford a motorbike, only a bicycle.
I learned to drive with an old jeep out on some tracks of an estancia, where my father took me fairly often.
All the best, thanks for commenting, Gracy

thank you. I've traveled many a dusty road, that's for sure. I've been married three times, the last one for thirty years and counting. the first one deserted me and our two week old child. the second was a drug addict who had an affair with my best friend. I have PTS from childhood and a couple of other mental health conditions. I enjoy your poems.

Hi again, Cat. You seem to have had your share of bad experiences, same as I have. I was OK as a child, tho' some childhood experiences on the farm must have affected me in later life. I had panic attacks for years, they just started out of the blue, I thought I was dying, with my heart racing. My husband took me to ER and a cardiologist said it was "just panic"... They affected my life terribly, but I carried anxiety pills in my bag, just took one when I felt the panic coming on. Often had to get off busses or run away from work, never could ride the subway and so on...then I got Fibromyalgia during the time I cared for my sick boys (who died) and finally my husband, who had dementia for 15 years.
You're a brave lady, Cat. Somehow, we find the strength to go on, even thru' this lockdown. My only daughter lives alongside of me. I hope your third husband is kind and loving, may those 30 years go on forever, if you're happy with him. I wish you all the best, Gracy

I am so very sorry for your losses! and the fibromyalgia (I have it, too plus psoriatic arthritis) isn't it amazing what a person can live through? my husvand, Steve is a gem. he cleans, washes clothes, takes the cats to the vets, and cooks! btw, I love Queen and Freddie Mercury!

Hi again, Cat. Oh my, you also have Fibro as well as psoriatic arthritis? What pain, you must be so strong. I'm glad your husband is such a gem. My second husband was also a gem, especially during the time Patrick had ALS, something his real father didn't do, never even visited his son nor paid for expenses.
But then Carlos got dementia, so I was on my own with Fibro. I've written poems about that, but not good ones. BTW, since I became a vegetarian my Fibro has got a lot better, very little pain. I take maybe one Tramadol50mg. with Tylenol/Paracetamol and 1/2 a tranquilizer. Sometimes I need another Tylenol later in the day, but I'm so grateful the worst appears to be over...tho' it's never cured.
Yes, Freddie Mercury has been my idol for years, to think he died a few months before an Aids medicine came out, which might have saved him, dunno. Brian May and Roger are geniuses, Brian is so worried about the wildfires in Surrey, near where he lives. He runs animal protection sites.
We should chat about these issues during chatroom time. Seems we've said it all here!
Wishing you some pain free days, best, Gracy

you sound like a pretty strong woman yourself! you have come through a lot of trials, and it has made you stronger. may I ask when you were diagnosed with fibromyalgia? I found out last year. But I have it for much longer. I knew that the burning and pain were indicative of something being wrong, but still I felt crazy. I've written a few poems about it, which I will post some of them in the future.
I have pretty much cut red meat from my diet. Do you find that the pain is worse at night? that's when I am in the most pain. I take tylenol 4x per day and an ambien to sleep as I am also an insomniac. I do have oxycodone, but I rarely use it, only when the pain is so bad that I can't help crying...Iam not a weepy person and I hate to cry! thank yo for your suggestions.

Hi Cat, that's bad about having more pain at night. That doesn't happen to me. I sleep quite well, but I take Benadryl for my allergies and a 3mg. Bromapezan together with it, so that must be the reason.
I was diagnozed decades ago, after my father's sudden death, whilst I was married to my crazy first husband. Also the panic attacks. Somehow I barged ahead, finished my Spanish high school and went on to uni, with all that troubling me. I even fractured an arm somewhere around then. I went with the heavy chalky cast used in those days, which gave me nightmares.
It was a pain specialist who gave me the correct diagnoses, after all the MRI's and other things such as several electromyograms, which are horrid. I'm so full of my own electricity!
Cutting out meat definitely cleared up most of the pain and stabilized my health in general. I highly recommend being vegetarian, even tho' I live in one of the most meat eating countries on the planet. My grandsons are music teachers at a private uni, they say that at least half the girls are
vegetarians or vegans, not so many of the boys. That's all for now, hope you have less pain and do take your strong meds if necessary, unless you're the addictive type. I'm not,I can take as needed.
Love to my fellow sufferer, best, Gracy

I appreciate your return comment. my mother was a nurse and a prescription drug addict, so I Hate, heavy drugs. rarely take them even though I have a script for oxycccodone. I take tylenol as needed. I'm glad to read that you don't have real bad nights. never, that I know, been bothered by mites.

*warm hugs, Cat

Hi Cat, glad you can do without the pain med. Interesting that your mother was a nurse and took too many drugs. So I understand your caution. Some people are more prone to addiction than others.
It's wonderful that you can make do with Tylenol, not many can.
Warm hugs back to you, Gracy
