I'm Dying

I'm dying more slowly
than I did in my youth,
when there was such hurry
to ferret out the truth.

I lived so much faster
my head in the sky
clouds all around me
with a mind full of "why"?

some things just happen
with no scheme or reason,
in no structured order
like the fall of the seasons.

yes, I'm dying more slowly
and I find it a shame
for I want death now,
not this dragging game.

free me of these memories
let my time arrive
for peace and commencement
after all I've survived.

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

time takes its toll on all of us, that's for certain. it has been said that youth is wasted on the young. I wish I knew then what I know now! I would have taken better care of my body. thanks for reading and responding.

I understand. My mother is 93 and living in a nursing home now. She is getting depressed because she can't have any visitors and her health is really poor. She is in so much pain most of the time that she has pain patches that release meds slowly all day every day. She says that she doesn't want to live like this anymore. She says that she has had a really good life and has wonderful children and grandchildren and that she doesn't regret anything in her life, but it is over now. She still takes delight in the family that comes to her ground-floor window and talks to her, but says when it comes, to just let her go. I know that she has a little bit to go, before her wish is granted and I hope that before that she goes, I can hug her just one last time. Sorry, didn't mean to go on like that; but I wanted people to know, that I do know. ~ Gee.

thank you for taking the time to tell me about your mother. it means a lot to me. I consider her to be a hero and greatly admire her. she has a wonderful son who loves her. my sister died last year. so the only family I have is Steven, my husband.he takes good care of me. he is semi-retired and works from home, so he is here for me most of the time. I was given oxycodone for the pain, but I refuse to take it often, and only one, at bed time. and not more than once every two weeks.I'm 69 and fighting hard, but sometimes the intense pain gets me down. tell your mother that she has a new "fan".

tell my Mom. She is a trooper. She has survived many trials and tribulations. If you would like to know a little more about her and my early life, you might read some of what I call the East Main St stories. I am about to go label them all as such. I have done some of them already, but am going to make a book of them to hopefully publish. ~ Gee.
