Eskerness Revisited...

Feeling left behind
The rear-view mirror shows where
Not wishing to drive
The scene ahead is blurred

Roads gone down, lanes lounged upon
Dust in my tracks
Washed clean by your forgetfulness
No soap needed

Bright kodachrome gleaming
Black, wet asphalt and spun tires
Smoke from burnt oil
And the smell of gasoline

I long to make tracks again
But my locomotion is weak
And I cannot leave what I've built
Oh, for shame, you cannot comprehend

Skies of blue keep calling
The drag of honesty holds me back
What could be
Never was...

I went visiting today. I strolled down memory lane with some of Esker's forgotten works and once again, was amazed at his depth of feeling and the way that he spoke to me. I was inspired.

Yea, when Jess died i starting again thinking of him too. They both were crazy MF's (in such a good way!)
I posted a poem Esker wrote on death in Jess' memorial. He had moments of complete mastery.

I really like the images you used in our poem. The whole way it uses the road. "The drag of honesty that holds me back" is very powerful. a solid work, most memorable to us who shared his life. Peace to our moments shared, both he and Jess.

I have put all that I can of Eskers poems on site in six parts.
They are poems that really need a concentrated read, they are all great pieces he was not
read as much as he should have been,
Thanks for your reminder, was the write one of his or your own ???
Steven as I knew him, was a great loving bear of a man and another great Brother,
Love to all Ian ..

one of my own, just trying to use his style or at least come close. He was a great friend who also called me brother.
As much as he was loved, I think he still felt alone, it comes through in his work. ~ Gee.

Many thanks, I did exactly the same by writing in the style of our Brother, Esker, (Steven).
I use to send used Postage stamps to Lori for the children but have seemed to have lost contact and am not sure if the old address is still used.
As to our Jess, Love him or leave him he was still a brother to me and strange as it seems his passing has had a bad effect on me as bad as losing my own Brother, I sent Jayne all the comments left on the Neopoet Memorial blog, I think they are going to be used at his memorial service which is I believe on Saturday 7th at 12 noon Sydney time.
Take care young man and great to hear from you as always, Yours Ian ...
