Amazing video of young Nigerian poets.

This is fantastic, I cried at the beauty, power and pain of it.
18 minutes well spent. Please watch it and tell me what you think. Have tissues handy.

Very clever wordplay!
I think stage performers and rappers can speak more knowledgeably about these performances. The content of each piece is very engaging.

Concerning the subject: the shortcomings of our education systems is a common topic among my generation, so I relate well to what they're saying. It's funny, I spent yesterday afternoon in conversation with my brother about this very same topic (wrt. computing education).

It's a very interesting subject that will take a lot to unpack.

Is this your first time watching West African Spoken Word poetry? You should check out Ehalakasa: it's an event in Accra that has grown into quite the honeypot for the most eccentric performance artists.
