Primal Scream

Black, infinite distance aligned
No stars, no moon, no guide
The edge of a wing, across my face
Flapping, startling
Footsteps from behind

A little faster, quickened pace
Eyes darting, side to side
Heightened senses, high alert
Arms prickling, hairs on end
Sweat dripping from chin

Running, chest pounding
Lungs collapsing, can barely breathe
Caught, whose there?
Blinded, hard object
Unconscious dreams

Awaken in dim light
Bound at the hands and feet
Looking down at myself, horrified
She is not me, or is she?

Hand over mouth
Shadows reaching out
Found a way to shut her up
A paw outstretched
Offering escape, impossible

Jagged edge of fear, tearing the flesh
Unraveling the mind, clawing at the ties
Tears rolling, face streaked, still she cannot speak
Shadow man, eyes I recognize
Nothing good ever came of that look

Bile rising, burning throat
Urge to vomit, choking loud
Eye sockets cold
Am I dead?
A growl erupting, full on roar

Holy shit, get me the hell out of here

I absolutely would do this again. I normally trance out during reiki or massage therapy. Music provokes very strong reactions from me. I wrote of what I saw and my.physical responses to the visions. I love the piece and would like to see where the journey continues. My subconscious Is a rather dark place and sometimes trancing helps me understand.

Onya, Carrie, that takes courage and commitment.

Everyone remember you are always in control, you can stop and turn off the drumming at any time, even though it takes relinquishing of control to get to the deep places in the first place. If threatening insects enter your imagery that is often a good significator to get the fuck out of there and try again another time.

You are safe, no permanent harm can ever be done no matter how scary it gets.

cheers,
Jess

I value your opinion greatly and am glad I was able to really grasp the concept of this workshop. My subconscious is a dark place but the visions and messages are usually very.clear and while I analyze for days after, it helps sort out some of the things I can't talk about. The roar actually snapped me out of the trance.

Few people enter the deep waters of the subconscious as we are doing without a mentor/guru/guide/shrink. With shamanic work this would be a bit like one of those guided meditations that start with you imagining a comfy orange glow or something. With shamanistic journeying the entrance is usually a cave leading to a nether world or a world tree like the Norse 'Yggdrasil' that you climb.

We, like all poets, are going in guideless and though it may get scary there is no chance of permanent harm, ok?

cheers,
Jess

Wow this is certainly full of action. Seems someone is in deep fear of something. It makes ya feel like catching your breath. It seems a primal dream from a primal scream. Nice job!

Music provokes very deep and strong emotional responses consciously and subconsciously. I plan on trying this again and see if the outcome is different.
