The "Artiste and the Ego" (Trying To Be Sincere)

when I showoff my work
and the response is "so what"
should I become a scold

when no one senses
my wicked wit
should I become annoyed

when the less of depth
receive all the praise
should I begin to seethe

or humbly admit
(with a nod and a wink)

"maybe,

-just maybe-

I'm not as good
as I think"

is generally; we are not always as good as we think! Sometimes, we miss the mark by a smidgeon, sometimes by a galaxy and other times, it's a country mile. I'm okay with that. Maybe just me, but I think that if we 'get it" at least sometimes, that shows that we are on the right track and we have to figure out what we are trying to accomplish. Then, we make adjustments, "trying to get it right" more often. You got it pretty much with this one, I don't know how you can make it better, so...

when one thinks he or she has got it right, it feels great
when others feel the same, it's even a greater feeling.

the hard part is when others don''t
some have a hard time with that ...ego is a hard thing to crack

yeah, I recall "discovering" multi-layers in one of your poems... the one about a mother bird flying with her injured son and a daughter from your old account.
