Critique and comments...

I see many new people here at the site and I think that this is a good thing! However, there are not enough people that are critiquing and commenting on other people's work! When you join the site, we know that most people are a little shy about trying to critique someone else's work. But when you have been here a while and have gotten some of your own work commented on or critiqued, we expect that you will reciprocate and tell others what you think about their work. If you happen to be an amateur and never been exposed to the poetic community, we understand that you may be reluctant to try and get technical about someone else's work. BUT, at least comment! Tell the author what you like or don't like about his or her work or maybe what you don't understand about it. That is the way things work around here. We don't get into squabbles about what someone posts as we have a varied group and thereby varied themes which may not be for everyone. If there are authors that write of subject matter that you do not approve of, the answer is simple! Do not read their work!

Please take the time to read and comment or critique at least one or two poems every time you post one of your own! Thank you, ~ Geezer.

Just saying you like or don't like something is a critique so it doesn't take a lot of training to just state your opinion

I wonder what new members expect when they join. How They feel after they have been here a while. What they want and expect.

When Andrew and Paul first started this site 12 years ago I told I them they were insane, it could never work, a democratically run poetry site. Absurd on the face of it, like altruistic cats, but the idea was so grand and ludicrous I would help any way I could. And here we are, 2019 and way the best poetry workshop on the web.

It all depends on poets giving back though. We are not talking barter or exchange but community and relationship. Here we have the Romantics, the Beats, the Classics, the Avant-garde, every form and style from every continent (yes, we had a poem posted from a member visiting Antarctica) and many cultures.

New members, tell us what you want and need, just say hi.
Hi.

cheers,
Jess
A new workshop on the most important element of poetry-
'Rhythm and Meter in Poetry'
https://www.neopoet.com/workshop/rhythm-and-meter-poetry

no one, except us older members read the blogs and not many of us either! I think to have an effect,
we should post directly on the stream and be allowed a poem for that day. Hmmmmmm? ~ Gee.
.

There is value to commenting and critique, tell us how you feel about our work.
This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.
